Default Missing Link and MAP Sensor

My other thread got buried, so I figured I'd start a new one that is more related to my idle/performance problem now.

I found out that my Missing Link is broken; it seems I installed it wrong a few months ago. No performance problems until the turbocharger was installed. The idle is really bad, especially after giving it a little gas. It stalls most of the time. Would the broken Missing Link screw up my MAP Sensor so much that it makes the ECU limp? I'm only running at around 5-6 psi, but could this break the MAP?

Also, my car is back-firing a lot now too...too much fuel?

It wouldnt break the MAP. But it could be causing your fuel to be out of whack. And yes after your MAP reads boost it goes into limp mode. And dumps tons of fuel. When mine was doing that at idle I was smoking black smoke everywhere. Definatly get that fixed. Your setup isnt running properly until you do.

I've heard a lot of how there should be black smoke...so that was kind of throwing me off, I don't see any. Did your car stall too? The only thing that I could see as being wrong with the car is a computer problem....so that's why I want to make sure before doing anything drastic. This thing ran so well until I put the turbo in. The idle is bad all the time now, though...not just when it senses boost. It seems that after it warms up, the idle turns to crap.

After it stalls pull your plugs. See if theyre wet with fuel/really black. My car smoked personally. I dunno?

These are new plugs, but as much as the engine seems like it's flooding, I'm almost positive they're bad now...I don't want to change them until I get the other crap squared away though. After I put the new Missing Link in, that is.

Pull them out clean them off. Get a lighter and flame them for a few then wipe em good. Thats what I always did to help mine when I was hella rich.

this happend to me when i had a leak at the map sensor - the computer thinks the air is very cool and dumps more fuel.

did you reset your computer after installing everything?

Yes I did. But the Link is broken, I should be receiving a new one soon. I'll reset the computer again after I install it.

Also, I heard disconnecting the first O2 sensor (the one the computer uses) would make my computer stick in either closed or open loop mode. Which one? And would it help at all?

Probably closed loop. It would probably dump more fuel.

Hmm...not exactly what I want. My mileage has suffered a lot. 2 weeks ago I was getting around 28 mpg. Now I get 17. I think the computer is already giving it too much.
