missing link...
which part faces down on the tb? the one with the rubber o-ring?
|
Re: missing link...
no up.
there is one o-ring that is recessed in the tb already. the missing link o-ring goes on the top facing the map sensor. |
Re: missing link...
ok well i put it on and when i hit boost the car idles real bad...i thought the missing link stops that from happening? should i check the IAC valve? or is my map sensor shot?

Re: missing link...
yeah i know they do but i don't want to tune it till i get everything together...
|
Re: missing link...
Define idles real bad.
|
Re: missing link...
do you get a map cel? the missing link will prevent that.
|
Re: missing link...
its got a jumpy idle...like revs to about 2k rpms and then drops, then revs and drops...over and over :(
|
Re: missing link...
Vacuum leak.
With TPS closed, the OBD1 ECU sets a fuel cut "revlimit" of 1300 rpms. Vacuum leaks make your rpms climb, just like cracking the throttle... but the ECU thinks throttle is closed and cuts fuel, so the rpms fall back down. Check the o-rings, make sure the missing link isn't bust0red. |
Re: missing link...
i checked it all out before i put it on l;ast night and everything was fine...it was doing this before i put the missing link on. and someone told me the missing link would stop it from doing that....well when i install the aluminum radiator tonight i'll check all the vac. lines.

Re: missing link...
Those gay ass vacuum dashpots dangling off the IM can develop leaks. Your most likely problem is a hose, or the FITV. If it is the FITV (fast idle thermo-valve), you can disassemble it and either 1) clean out the coking keeping the valve from shutting or 2) re-screw the valve back down as it's come loose. Personally, I prefer 3) block the sumbitch off with a piece of cardboard and some RTV silicone. Who needs a 3000 rpm cold idle, anyway?

Yup, this is your most likely culprit:

Re: missing link...
mmmphf, same pic as in the HT thread. Updated with pointy-clicky linky thingy.

Re: missing link...
haha...yeah i'ma do this when i get home tonight and see what happens...does the d-series TB have that opening aswell?
|
Re: missing link...
what about sprayin the iac valve with carb cleaner? will that help? or the throttle position sensor? its just my mom doesn't have the net at her house so i can't ask anymore questions once i leave the office
|
Re: missing link...
:(
There are no more questions to ask, hippie. You have a vacuum leak, most probably internal to the FITV, but otherwise easily diagnosed. FYI, Mister I Have Three Builds Going On At The Same Time $$$ Baller, a 200-250 mW wireless PCMCIA card/400 mW PCI card costs $70 shipped, and misc antennas + cables will cost you another $100 for decent quality stuff. I can hit four to nine APs in my house, depending on whether I'm in the basement or upstairs... there is no reason for not having internet access wherever you go! |
Re: missing link...
haha there is no reason to have internet where ever i go :(...i don't have anything to have internet...(laptop)...and even if i did my mom doesn't have wireless connection...and they disconnected the internet cuz my little brother was skipping school...i have the net at my place...just not at my moms :) and she has money...i'm not payin for her internet lol

Re: missing link...
Yeah, this board is good for that. I spewed coffee on the laptop last time I checked the front page...
PS, TurbodEG... Rocket says LS rods in a D16 should be good for 9500 rpms... Make sure you don't sissy out on cam selection with that NA D-build. |
