Default loss of spark.. Help plz

Background: Car is a 95 civic hatch with the JDM D15b with a garrett big T28 tuned on Neptune by Jeff Evans. When i first installed the motor my coil went and was replaced maybe 5 months ago, connector wire yellow/black (crank position ect.) terminals were ------ing as well but have been "fixed".

Problem: Car is losing spark under no specific driving conditions. At first disconnected Crank position checked terminals tightened them with small flathead screwdriver pluged back up car ran again. Problem happened again later that day same solution worked this time tightened terminals down till extra snug against male end. Driving home tonight car died on me again no spark connector does not seem to be the problem, pulled off dizzy cap checked coil and cap no multimeter so just did visual check, put cap back on car starts makes it all the way home (10+ miles) havent driven since i been home but am worried about driving plus want to go to track again this weekend. Any ideas on what could be causing this problem?

if the ignition control module was bad wouldnt the car be a no start. What would cause the ICM to be an intermittent problem?

No, that's the coil. Bad ICM's cause misfires and like to slowly go out on Honda's. Yes, it can be an intermittent problem. I've had cases where it lasts a few days doing random misfires and I've had cases where it randomly goes out.

off topic but that random misfire got me wondering. A misfire will show up on a datalog as a glitch in the rpm ramp and a spike in the AFR as the unburned cylinders air will throw off the wideband reading. Would detonation also throw a spike in the afr's or not? I'm assuming detonation will not be optimal burn but it still burns, so I wouldn't expect an afr spike.

Kinda. It would have to be some serious detonation to causes a big enough spike in afr to notice. That's why it's best to monitor detonation on a dyno. A squiggly graph means unstable timing and good chance of detonation. Usually caused by too little timing and/or too much fuel.

That's my understanding of it anyways. I'm still learning how to tune on the dyno. Would be cool if Mr Davis would jump in, or someone with much more tuning experience.
