Default Look up table size

If the limit for map table size is 15x77 why can't we change what limits the size of the tables? Isn't it the 8bit processor that is the limiting factor? If that is the case why not just unsolder the factory micro controller and copy the info to a faster processor and and solder a new chip in? Like maybe using the processor from a OBD-1 or 2 computer.

i'd assume because we don't know what all the pins are on the Oki MC. No one has any documentation on it yet. therefor, we don't know what each pin is for.

Well, I'm not an electronics person, but I'm slowly picking things up. I believe the problem with that is the the board would have to be redesigned. I could be wrong, but I don't think that there *are* other processors (other than 8051 replacements) that could just drop into the board's design.

But on the code side of that, when it comes down to it, the work of getting an OBD0 ECU to run as an OBD1 would also require a LOT of code rewrite, as the code is proprietary to the MCU. So as it sits, the code wouldn't run on another MCU. The PGMFI guys did a lot of work just to get the code to correctly run on a different 8051 processor, let alone trying to make it work on a different MCU family.

while we're at it, we might as well design a new ecu.

no sense in re designing the wheel. you can currently buy a standalone that would do a much better job than what we "weekend warriors" could do. But it would cost a lot more.
