I'm trying to help J. Parker with his support issues (too many noobs asking too many questions take away from his programming time) and one idea I have thought about is offering weekly (or probably bi-weekly) live technical support sessions where people could log on conference style and ask questions about the program and tuning with it.

The problem is that I dont have much time or knowledge to look for a free Whiteboard/Web Conferencing software or service on the web thats FREE and VERSATILE. I need something like WEBEX but it needs to be free so everyone can join in unless people are willing to pay a fee to log on(and I know that HMT is all about not paying).

I'd rather it not be a software program that everyone has to download and install on their computer because more issues will arise with that. I'm looking for a JAVA style web application with a fair amount of capacity (10-20 users).

dude, check out www.isketch.net, it's pretty cool. it's like charades except you draw it out... you can form your own chat room and draw diagrams on the board that would normally be used for the game. it's free and it's shockwave based.

Seems more like a game than a tool...I tried to log on but it was full.

Looks like we are going to have to use MSN, AIM or Netmeeting.

I really wanted to find something where I could display my desktop though so people could see what I was doing as I was doing it.

Any suggestions on a time? Who would be in? Would people be interested in this? Any feedback?

Once you have the server running on your computer and setup correctly, as many people as you want can connect using a webbrowser. It's free too. I use it to administer all of my servers at work.

Throw some PHP, CGI, etc. based free software titles my way and consider the hosting taken care of.

PGFMI.org currently lives on dual bonded T1s... Granted, it doesn't have exclusive rights to them but... I'll look around and see what packages I can find that might work. I think the TightVNC solution is not a bad idea at all, but it will be very problematic with bandwidth on Chris's end. I'll see if there are any "repeaters" for VNC, as it would certainly work well.

I just talked to Chris on aim and had him register with dyndns to start. We'll need to do some prelim testing as to how many connections his cable line can adequately support, but the bandwidth required is small, so I can't see any issues with 10-15 connections.

I really think you'll have a problem getting all the noobs to sign on at one time.
I know it would be alot more work, but if someone could do a series of write-ups first with the very basics of ecu tuning, and the next chapter would take it further. After say 4-5 chapters you may have them understanding. It would only work if it was in English of course.

I think the idea of doing a series of write-ups with the very basics of ecu tuning will be really usefull and helpfull. At least it will be available online and anytime you feel kinda confused or lost you can go back read it as much as you want.
