Default JYR's next adventure. Tuning. My on-going thread...

So yeah, i've managed to ---- up about everything there is to ---- up except tuning. I am pretty nervous to do this but im biting the bullet. I was talking with a friend, he pretty much told me I cant ---- a N/A honda motor up, and I know he knows what hes doing....so thats what motivated me to do this.

Im going to just keep updating this thread everytime I do something or learn something or need advice. (advice will be much appreciated)

So ive been talking to Chris (xenocron) and hes quite the guy. Anwsered every one of my questions, and a really good guy. We sparked a deal and I picked up the following:

Innovative LC-1 (with the sensor) (not in the pic)
Moates burner
Extra chips
Moates hulog
and of course a chipping kit

Thanks again Chris! took exactly 1 week from NJ to Okinawa, Japan! Chris is an awsome guy!

Specs under the hood:

Full toda everything.
Stroked B16
Toda A intake, B exhaust
Toda cam gears
Toda springs/retainers
Ported head
Header

Still my downfalls, cat is still there, stock B pipe exhaust...and I have a small crack in my Spoon header, and its untuned.
I dyno'd it a few weeks ago, my rev limiter on the ecu now is no where to be found. Ive been well past 9500rpms and it just kept going and I let off the gas. So I hooked up my MSD with a 8k chip in it just for safe measures. To 8k im at 180hp at the wheels, estimated 204 at the flywheel...with still alot left in it. Not bad for a N/A B16. Id like to see 210-215 at the wheels, N/A. I know some of you might say 'thats homo, 210hp' but I say '---- you' I like my motor, I like my set-up, and I don't plan on boosting this motor. I have 2 GSR motors, and part waiting for boost.

Once I get this car tuned, and I learn this stuff, I will go back to the dyno.

I will update once I get the ECU chipped. Hoping for this weekend....

yup. Cams are already tuned. Not worried about that...ill just work on the a/f ratios and the timing.

a/f ratio is not where power is found regardless of what h/t tuners think. Has long has its not running pig rich the power gains for a/f is very minimal. Timing is where its at. Ill give ya some advice going up doesnt work

Oh and your 240's are maxed out at stock fuel pressure. 2 options bigger injectors or the way I role fpr set has high has its needs to be

I forgot to mention as well....my injectors are/have to be wide the ---- open. i'll be replacing those soon as well. I know those are holding me back...

So what would you recommend for shooting for with the timing?

Dont advance thats for sure. A properly set up cylinder head doesnt need timing to make power

Spot on Chris. The number of times I hear poepel say the more timing, the more power you make, der der der. Such BS.

The simple fact is that timing for maximum power is where it needs to be. More or less will make less power. N/A motors that are set up well with polished combustion chambers and pistons with a decent amount of quench with high compression and a good intake velocity to fill the cylinders will need far far less timing than a stock motor.

All that quench and compression gets the flame going across the combustion chamber really fast. It doesn't take much timing before you are too advanced.
