Default I've been thinking...(SAFC theory)

So most of you know when you boost to nearly the max of the MAP sensor pressure Voltage (3.1V) you get your timing back/close to normal ignition timing as a non boosted Honda at that RPM and throttle %, but with FI on the AFC hack. If i turn back the timing on the dizzy -3 degrees, the timing is still a bit advanced due to the hack rescaling the injectors to idle but since my turbo gets full boost at 2500 (IHI RHB5) boosting 9 PSI and i'm using an OBD0 MAP so therefore 9.25PSI(3.1V) max and with that timing close to NORMAL plus -3 degrees retard on base (dizzy) UNDER BOOST i should be pretty damn safe above 2500 when i hit full boost right? someone correct this.

There is also the situation where i'm not WOT at say 3000RPM not boosting full (probably around 4-5PSI) and that means advanced timing, would that cause detonation still? but keep in mind i still have a -3 retard and can i just set that richer to prevent detonation when i'm not at full boost running 91 octane?

i really wanna clarify this since there is lots of AFC bashing and every thread i read when people ask help on the SAFC someone always comes and SAYS go uberdata, TE etc...by the end of this thread i hope i can decide to use the AFC or use other measures and maybe if this is full of actual good useful info it could be a new sticky.

again what i'm trying to get at is put some positive feedbacks/info/tricks about the SAFC here, like the best way to prevent detonation, how much timing to set back, adding more fuel to get rid of knock etc, i've read hours and hours of SAFC infos and searched many many times. To me the SAFC seems ok but the only downside is advanced timing.

The best way to prevent detonation is to NOT use the Hack. You are advancing your timing always, much more than you should be as a boosted Honda. It works to fool the MAP sensor...it is a hack...you cant shine a positive bit of light on it other than that it works and at higher than 8 psi...it could be safer than an FMU (but not by very much)

Do what everyone is telling you these days.

ok i made a basemap following your instructions for my TE and its ready to burn onto a chip but my top row is all -33 why is that? then it goes to -14.7 what do those mean anyways?

those mean that turboedit doesnt know what the column headings really are...they are correct, TE just doesnt know it.

it needs some updating

i used to run the hack on my hatch for almost two years. worked great. really i was runing 12 -13 psi sometimes and it just ripped hard. if your detonating just add more fuel. add fuel thats the key with the hack. my timing was stock too. dont retard a tt eh dizzy, youll just make yourself slower. you can do it at first, just so u can learn your car. just pay attention to your car. if you hear detonation at a certain rpm rangejust add more fuel at that range.
