Installed new injectors :)
Well guys I finally came home from college and installed my injectors. I had some laying around from a ford thunderbird 2.3 turbo.... 35# My stock ones were only 24#
Anyways the stock computer has a hard time with these. The car runs like ---- if I'm not boosting because the injectors are too big. Anyways When I boost though my egt's dropped from 1600+ to 1400-1450 which I'm happy with and my air/fuel gauge is reading richer.
So overall I'm happy about it. and just wanted to share. I'm soo glad I saved those injectors years ago

ww.pro-flow.com check out there products they make an EFMU thats bascially uses a mpa sensor to correct fuel pressure. it controls the pump on most systems by changing the volateg but in your case could be used with a FPR to drop the pressure down and then ramp it up. at a given flow rating the FR on your car will no longer be able to flow more fuel to the tank so increaseing volateg should in thoery raise FP sooner or later. either that or you find somebody with an IN at the dealer and get 2.4 injectors and flash calibration for the new GM performance parts Supercharger kit for the 2.4 cavalirer. im not sure the newer Program is compatiable with your ECM buts it worth a shot. It wont be perfect but itll be better then what you have now.

Yeah I'm running too rich I know it and figured I would. I dont mind so much though so long as I'm not lean when I'm boosting right now. I can hook up a SAFC but I'll probably go with an emanage so I can pull timing as well, gotta love distributorless ignition. Anyways I dont have the cash for one right now, I just used these injectors because I had them laying around.

Thats good info I did check out the site. Seems as though the product costs just as much as an emanage though. I cant use the 2.4 supercharger injectors because they are high impedance. I beleive only the 00+ ECM's can be reflashed as well from what I've read. I'm impressed that you knew so much about that though, nice info. Anything would be better than what I have now. Come spring I should have a wide band o2 and an emanage to tune with hopefully which should solve all my problems. The car will be put up for the winter soon anyways.

Its a 1996 Sunfire GT 2.4 twin Cam engine (LD9)
The engine is from a 2001 Grand am but I used all of my old parts. The knock sensors were different so I altered it. The ijectors on the 00+ are high impedance so I swapped injector harnesses and used my old ones. The compression on the newer engines are a little higher 9.7:1 compared to the older 9.5:1 I also swapped intake manifolds because I have an egr valve which the 00+ do not.
For fuel I have a cartech adjustable FMU #2025
The car is also an automatic. The GM reflash wont work becuase they dont have one yet for the automatics (5spd only) and my computer is a pre 00+ which doesnt have high impedance injectors. Like I said I also have an egr valve which is another issue.

Gimme some info man. Did you need to install any resistors on the injectors or did you just plug them up and go? Also did you have to modify the fuel rail or the seats any? Im doin the S-10 and Im assuming we would use the same type of injectors. BTW what do you/we have peak - hold or saturation?

No resistors I just plugged them in. I didnt have to modify anything really, just put some new O-rings on or at least check to see if they are in good shape.
What year is your S-10 and what engine do you have? I have the 2.4 so its probaly gonig to be different. I know that I have peak - hold injectors (low impedance).
You can find smaller ones... Ones from a 2.3 HO would work well, others are using injectors from z06 corvettes. You just have to make sure they are the right impedance or as you say it peak-hold or saturation.
