Default I suck at desoldering

Tonight I 'd up my ecu, I couldnt completely desolder all of the holes.. i kept trying for an hour or so.. there are little melted marks and ---- around the holes... is that normally ok? or am I potentially fucked? I'll get pics sometime... Also, If I havent cut j2? does that ---- have any effect on my ecu to run in stock form?

If the traces are fried, consider your ecu poop....... Or if you know someone w/ mad tyte skillz , you might be able to use some leeds to fix. Just run them from the legs to the final trace point. Worked for me a few times.

is that area used on a stock ecu? im obviosly an electronics noob ***, but when you cut the j2 or whatever it makes your ecu utilize the chip in that position, if you dont have it cut does it do anything with that area?? basically, can I sell it to somebody to use on a stock gsr if it wont work for my neptune install?

If my memory is good, j2 cutting is for dataloging so yes if you havent desolder the chip....

But you did, so no :P

If you are talking about put a bin file and run ECU yes, but I dont realy understand what you want to mean?

i dunno what i mean either... i always thought there was a wire you cut to run the chip... and you could put a jumper there to go back to the stock map... i dunno.. maybe im wrong.

this is a decent desolder. you will come to learn, there are certin holse, the no matter what, tis gonna be hard to getthe solder out. its the same on every board that i touch. sometimes i refill the holes to try to get everything out

oh man,. that sucks.
i had to desolder a 16 pin ic chip on my megasquirt. luckily i had a desoldering gun that sucks the solder out after it gets hot enough.
i burnt the crap out of the board but it still works. even if you did ruin the foil run (which i doubt you did) it can be 2m'd. they fix
multi level boards all the time.
