Default i know nothing about tuning!! want to go ghettodyne!!

so its decided i am most impressed by what others have said about ghettodyne..and it seems as though that is the way i want to go now..

oh yeah one problem, the most tuning i've ever done or know about is fiddling with my cam gear and fpr..thats it.

can anyone direct me towards a sight or person who can give me a sort of "ghettodyne tuning for dummies" run down or any references that can tell me what tuning is all about..

i mean i really need the basics like what happens if i adjust partial throttle, alter fuel maps, etc. etc. and this other crap i see people ask.

as much as i have no problem using other peoples MAPs or asking someone to burn me a chip as a true DIYer i need to figure this stuff out for myself. thanks.

first of all to do ghettodyne properly u will need a chip burner.

batronix, pocket programmer (google them)

as for knowing what your doing when changing values.

read the help in ghettodyne and come back.

i already know about all the hardware etc. etc. all i want to know about is changing values and what theoretically will happen when those values are changed...i could be completely blind but nothing in "help" section of Ghettodyne.com explained that.

basically like this..lets say i have the burner, software, chip, etc. etc.

now i want to start making a custom program for my setup..how the hell do i know what does what to better tune for my setup

thats my problem too. i have all the hardware but dont know if my changes to the base maps will screw up the program and not let my car run right.

Dyno and Wideband O2 tuning...it's the only way you'll know for sure what's going on, otherwise you're wasting your time, b/c your *** can't tell you that (for example) you're running 13% lean at 5300 RPM's at 8in hg of vaccum. Hondata has a good deal of info on tuning, check that out first. In a nutshell, ghettodyne gives you the ability to modify two major ways your car works, fuel and timing. You'll need a lambda (wideband) meter to tune your fuel, and ignition is mostly trial and error...advance a few degrees, and make another run...if you made more, continue to advance, if you made less, retard and run again, etc...

There's too much information on tuning to cover sufficiently in one post, it's a bit of an art, and everyone has a different opinion on how it should be done...google, honda performance sites (hondata, in particular) bookstores and the good old library are a great place to start looking. Reseach, and good luck.

the best you can do is just read pgmfi.org. start with everything in the knowledgebase forum. theres still a lot of work to do which is probably why there isnt actually a complete guide to it all yet. factor in which specific ecu you have and you might even have to work your own magic.
grab a gallon of coffee and enjoy

i dont think you can get any better than that. unless you want engine basics then www.howstuffworks.com is great.

a cheaper tuning option for you would be too get a laptop and ECU Control For OBD0. You can then datalog and see if you are running lean or rich with its simple a/f meter.

That's incorrect. ECUcontrol's A/F ratio gauge does not work yet, and narrowband output is not useful for tuning, it's more of a warning mechanism if you're running lean.
