I dunno whats wrong.

For the past few days i have been buring a chip and trying to make my cars idle not jump.

Spec's:

b16a in 91 dx
basic add ons fuel rail intank headers.

Po6 ecu chiped with a GSR burn.

so far i have the cold warm and moving idle speed at 1 and it still idles around 1.5K and the idle jumps. the IAVC i'v gone from -1 to 5 and it stil dose it. but very slightly. Could there be anything else wrong with the car/wireing? i also have knock sensor unchecked. injctor test disable, closed loop disable and VTP disable all unchecked. please help me on this!! :(

edit: using uberdata.

Re: I dunno whats wrong.

Not that it would effect your idle but did you convert your P06 to run VTEC? Have you tried different versions of Uberdata?

Re: I dunno whats wrong.

I'm using 1.70 from http://uberdata.pgmfi.org/forum/index.php?board=11 there is one thing i cant find in it. is the check egine light is solid and its like the fan is backwords. it only runs when the egnition is on but when i start the car the fan wont come on even when the car is fully warmed up. and yes the vtec is checked and the vtec <20mph is checked.

Re: I dunno whats wrong.

You aren't understanding me. You can't run VTEC on a P06 ECU if it has not been modifed internally.

Re: I dunno whats wrong.

oh... i'm not sure...xenocron chiped the ecu. i told him to make sure it had vtec :/

Re: I dunno whats wrong.

Then its fine.

Re: I dunno whats wrong.

ok, is there any other reason why the engine light would be solid. and the fan wont run when the engine is on? i never tuched the fan wise in the swap of ecu's and engine swap.

Temp switch.

Re: I dunno whats wrong.

solid light usually means it was a bad burn. well most of the time, does the car rev beyond 3k rpm?

SpankedYA! 01-27-2006 06:24 PM

Re: I dunno whats wrong.

Have the chip in right? Burner set right? Saved correctly?

HMTguy 01-27-2006 06:36 PM

Re: I dunno whats wrong.

Have you actually jumped the service connector, or did you just see that your light is solid when you turn the key to ON?

The CEL will always be solid until you jump the service connector. If it is still solid after you do that, then either the chipping job is bad (doubtful since Xeno did it) or you have a bad burn (most likely).

Re: I dunno whats wrong.

the flash n burn says it burned. never rev's above2K cold 1.2 warm. i know i'm puting the chip in right. i did the lil jumper thing and the light still stays solid.

Pretty much that means jack ----. It could still be a bad burn, or you are burning the bin incorrectly.

Yep, doesn't mean anything. Especially if the bin your are using is corrupt.

B16aJunkY 01-28-2006 06:11 PM

Re: I dunno whats wrong.

ok, here's the commen question.... how can i tell if the .bin is bad?

NCHATCH 01-28-2006 07:25 PM

Re: I dunno whats wrong.

solid CEL means the burn was bad, or the ecu is jacked but i seriously doubt its the ECU, this was my main issue for switching from UD to hondata, i had soooo many issues with a decent burn and running issues from all the software not being finished, that i realized............

time is money, and i dont have alot of time

i moved bro. i live in vegas now :/

this is the order i go in

1.UD mages change save .bin in UD folder.
2. erase chip
3. check blank
4.Load file to buffer.
5. programe chip.

am i missing any steps? or is just my flash% burn program/chip bad?

Re: I dunno whats wrong.

What chip are you using 29c256 or the newer SST 512's? You have to set the burner manually if you are using the SST chips.

B16aJunkY 01-28-2006 08:49 PM

Re: I dunno whats wrong.

not sure. but the chip # is 27sf512 if that helps any. :/

Re: I dunno whats wrong.

You have to start that at an 8000 hex address I think.

B16aJunkY 01-28-2006 08:58 PM

Re: I dunno whats wrong.

cheep adress

008000
00FFFF

buffer adress
000000
007FFF

flash & burn v5.5.A

Yup thats right. Chip in the bottom slot with arm at the top with a few spaces in between right?

B16aJunkY 01-28-2006 09:04 PM

Re: I dunno whats wrong.

dot on chip bottum left twords lil handle chip sits to the far right of the slots..

Re: I dunno whats wrong.

I had one chip that consistantly said it bunrt good and never really worked. Try another chip.

I had the same problem with 1 sst512 chip. What a pain in the ass it was. Tried an amtel and it worked no problem. I don't ever use SSTs anymore.

Re: I dunno whats wrong.

The problem I had was with a 29C256 amtel. I have had no issues with the SST chips.

ok i got a atmel chip 29c256 what should the adressing be forthat one?

Re: I dunno whats wrong.

Both to 0000H to 7FFFH

B16aJunkY 01-31-2006 06:35 PM

Re: I dunno whats wrong.

not working for me :(

0000H : go's in chip adress?
and
7FFFH
go's in the buffing?

0b00st0 01-31-2006 07:52 PM

Re: I dunno whats wrong.

Chip addressing 0000H to 7FFFH
Buffer addressing 0000H to 7FFFH

Cray91 02-01-2006 01:49 AM

Re: I dunno whats wrong.

The AT29C256 will automatically address itself with the flashburn program I beleive.

When you burn a chip do this.

erase
blank check
load file to buffer
program chip
verify chip with buffer

If all that comes out okay, then you are applying the image correctly. That however tells you nothing about the file. Try burning another .bin on there and see if you get the solid CEL. You don't have to turn the car on, just to the run position on the ignition.

odds of a bad solder job are low, odds of a bad chip are also low.

did all that and still solid light.

Cray91 02-01-2006 03:10 PM

Re: I dunno whats wrong.

I would guess a bad file then. Just burn any "known good" .bin and turn the key to the run position.

BTW: did the verification say that it was good?

B16aJunkY 02-01-2006 05:01 PM

Re: I dunno whats wrong.

yup it said it was good :/

0b00st0 02-01-2006 10:18 PM

Re: I dunno whats wrong.

It may been uploaded fine and all the bytes are fine, but that doesn't check for validity of the bin, only the ecu is going to do that, by giving you a solid check engine light because the program doesn't run correctly.
