well the invisible burner is a tricky one to use. I would just give up.

I am guessing that you are talking about the burner from your last posts. Go look at projekteg's write-up and when he says to put in AT29C256, instead select the proper #.

Re: i could use some help on this please

invisible burner? that looks like a willem that chip is sittin in....anywhoo assuming you have the the cables and software for the burner, open the software go to "device" go down to eprom electric erase, then over to sst27sfxxx, then over to sst27sf512, select that, then on the software main screen it will show you a picture of the dip switches ( the blue thing with the white switches) then set the dip switches on the burner exactly how they appear in the picture, put you chip in and select "verify", if you did it right a pop up should tell you its an sst27sf512, if so, proceed to load a bin into the burner software, and burn away! good luck!

Re: i could use some help on this please

my bad you need to click on "ID" not verify....that should work, also make sure the chip is in the burner correctly, the little arrow facing toward the lock down bar, and the chip all the way back on the opposite side of the lock bar...lemme know what happens....

z6efboosted 05-10-2005 09:36 PM

Re: i could use some help on this please

the ID button doesnt pop up on mine

z6efboosted 05-10-2005 09:38 PM

Re: i could use some help on this please

what willem program should i use, .97ja or .97g

boosted_b16 05-10-2005 09:47 PM

Re: i could use some help on this please

thats weird? i use .97ja.....you can go to action then down to "get id" as well, or try just hitting controll I....see what happens, if you have no luck id'ing the chip, try using the other software, or try just closing the program and re opening.....

z6efboosted 05-10-2005 09:53 PM

Re: i could use some help on this please

when i go to action the get id is light in color so i cant use it. what do you mean by closing and re-opening the program.

Re: i could use some help on this please

do you have any pics or can you explain to me on how to set the jumpers

boosted_b16 05-10-2005 10:25 PM

Re: i could use some help on this please

hrmmm...the jumpers.....do you see the blue rectangular shaped box on your software main screen, it just shows you switches 1-12 and which ones are supposed to be on and off ( up or down) as long as you have the right chip selected under devices, it will show you the proper settings for that chip, then you just have to set the actual switches on the burner how they look on the screen, sorry i have no pics.....and i meant just simply getting it all set up ( the switches and having the right chip selected) and then closing the software, then re open it, then insert the chip, then see if you can id it....if not try using the other willem software, whichever one your not using now...if that dont work???? im not sure, is that a willem dual power? it looks a little different than mine, which is a willem enhanced....

z6efboosted 05-10-2005 10:34 PM

Re: i could use some help on this please

i set everything closed the software opened it back up and still no ID on both of the softwares. not exactally sure which burner it is its not mine its a buddies and he said its a dual power, i think. do you know anybody that can help if you cant figure it out for me. thanks for the help though

boosted_b16 05-10-2005 10:47 PM

Re: i could use some help on this please

maybe theres a step im missing because its a dual power and not an enhanced? i havent personally used a dual power only the enhanced.....i would start a new thread in search of someone with a dual power that can walk you through it, im out of ideas bro....sorry, hope you can figure it out....lemme know if theres anything else i can help you out with....that agrivates me though, i know what its like to have the right tools to do something and not be able to figure it out >:(...it sux...best of luck....

Re: i could use some help on this please

I thought you had to add a value somewhere to use the SST chip? Like: https://www.homemadeturbo.com/forum/...?topic=40052.0

I also had problems with my Willem. I'd set everything up and it wouldn't ID the chip, wouldn't burn, wouldn't do anything. I had to plug the serial cable to the board and then to the computer. Plug in the USB power at the board, but not the laptop. Start 097g software. Insert chip & lock socket. Plug in USB to laptop. ID chip/Erase/Burn etc... That's for a AT29C256 chip, not an SST. Could be a similar issue. If you do anything out of that order, it wouldn't work. :-\

Re: i could use some help on this please

maybe you might just have to get an altmel AT29C256 chip and order a new burner :-\ ....if you do you can get a willem enhanced off ebay for about $40-60......i wish i could help more....

Re: i could use some help on this please

is there anyway that this burner can get messed up buy doing it over and over. can the sst27sf521 chip get messed up by triing to burn it over and over.

Chris Harris 05-11-2005 10:24 PM

Re: i could use some help on this please

doubtful...maybe if you are putting the chip in backwards

its really something silly you are doing wrong

give it a day, rest - relax and then go back and re-read the instructions carefully, clear your mind

Re: i could use some help on this please

Did it ever work for you? Or did it work once or twice and then not work at all?

I've never gotten the SSTs to work... I'll stick with at AT29C's instead.

Re: i could use some help on this please

For the SST chips...its under:

EPROM Electrical Erase --> SST27SFxxx --> SST27SF512

z6efboosted 05-12-2005 06:59 PM

Re: i could use some help on this please

thats exactly what i do to get that chip up

Re: i could use some help on this please

Then set up the DIP switch like it shows...

Then set up the Jumper (top middle of picture) like it shows. (For Programming)

Now to erase te 27SF, you need to add a jumper (like it shows on the PCB board picture, not in software)

You might have to erase 1st before burning ;)

i dont understand what jumper to add, the two yellow ones are installed what and where is the third. (like it shows on the PCB board picture, not in software) what do you mean by that.
