Re: how much timing on a built z6
it was like 28* to 5psi. then it backed down to 24 to 20psi. I just wanted to get the turbo spooled up quicker, so i was hoping i could run mid 20's to 5-8 psi. from 10 on, i have 19.something
My cr is probably around 8.8-9:1 Running 19 psi. |

Re: how much timing on a built z6
Retarding timing causes faster spool, right until your exhaust valves glow cherry red and preignition sets in. Advancing timing focuses the burn inside the combustion chamber, until you begin the burn so early that the peak pressure occurs at a rod angle with poor leverage that the piston cant move down quickly enough (act as an expander) to keep pressures from rising and turning burn into detonation and destroying the engine. Play around between those points to find best throttle response and spool.
