Default How to convert Ford Carb to EFI

Ok Guys here is the game plan. Convert a carbbed 5.0 to a EFI 5.0 using the Mass air setup

Step 1. Wish good luck.
Step 2. On the hunt for parts.

So far here is what I have. I have a 1985 ford mustand which needs rewired anyway, It has a t5 in it.

So I have went on the hunt for part. I have or will get the complete upper and lower intake and injectors. 19lb in jectors

I am getting another fuel tank or converting it to use a walbro pump. I will do the fuel line stuff.

Now what chips computer mods what computer do I need? whats the wiring? this is what we need to discuss,

Yea thats why I am not depressed about the wireing being shot I am converting it to 86- up anyway. There will be some I leave normal. Maybe Blundar can jump in this when it comes to chipping or making a program to reprogram the ecu.

If anyone finds links on how to's for this post em up

Ok I Have to bump. Can someone tell me the diff between a 19# ford injector and a dsm 450?.....

Just a glimpse of what is going to happen. I am transforming a 85 mustang to speed density then to MAF then duel holset turbo's I think.

Progress of the car stands as follows:

Found the short that toasted the underhood wires. 90% car rewire going to begin soon.

I am still having problems sorting out the ecu stuff but moats.net seems to have a resonable setup for tuning and chipping.

About 23#. DSM's are roughly 42# injectors, lo-impedance. Late model Fords use hi-impedance injectors, but I don't know about your '85. Fit wise, they should be interchangeable.

that's going to be a nightmare hehe. you want to use an A9L ecu if you've got a stick shift car. mustangs are my hobby, civic is just the daily driver.

I suggest you get an 87-89 engine harness/injector harness that way it's already MAF. If your car is automatic you need to take special care when converting it to get the tv cable adjusted right or you'll burn that tranny up in a heartbeat.

www.stangnet.com will be your best tool for finding out EXACTLY what you need to get changed to EFI.

www.turbomustangs.com is what you want to get your homemade turbo setup info for the mustang and the EFI setup. You're gonna have fun time figuring out your MAF situation hehe.
