how to burn a sst 27sf256
i think the chip is bad in my ecu, only spare one i can get my hands on is an sst 29sf256.
I dont see any settings to config the moates burner to that chip though.. do you just use the atemel settings?

the difference between the 256 and 512 chip is that you can fit 1 bin on the 256 and 2 bins on the 512. when you burn only a single bin to a 512 you have to set the hex offset (the starting point) to 8000..halfway through the chip. this is because the ecu will read from here naturally.
he's saying , since the chips are so similar you can probably use the settings for a 512, but set the offset (the starting point) to be 0 and burn the bin to the "first half" of the "512" chip. but really since its just a 256 chip your just burning to the whole chip.
Does that make any more sense? btw i use sst 512 chips with my willem.

Re: how to burn a sst 27sf256
using these settings still says verification failed
chip addressing:
start- 000000
end- 00FFFF
buffer:
start- 000000
end- 00FFFF
That is the 512 settings for a 32k file but changing the start address to 0 instead of 008000.
WTF!
