Default help with VAFC

im trying to help a buddy of mine to setup his vafcI. the car will not go into vtec at the point that the vafc is set at. i have tracked it down..i think. the rpms on the vafc are reading almost exactly 1/4 of what the factory tach shows. i did not install this unit, so i don't know exactly where the tach wire is tapped. anyone have any ideas?

thanks

Are you going off the stock tach? If so the VAFC is a lot more accurate than the stock tach, Does the vtec point that you have set it at correspond wit the RPM read on the Vafc?

Hope you understand!

i understand that. but what im saying is that if you hold the car at 4k rpm (stock tach reading) the vafc shows only 996. therefore to get vtec to kick in at 5000 rpm (vafc reading) i would have to turn 20k rpm (stock tach)..i didn't hook this thing up, im trying to fix it. any idea what might cause this? is there maybe a setting that is incorrect...also, i don't have the manual in front of me.

thanks
