Is your parallel cable really long? ...or old?

Try a shorter, new one.

I just plugged my burner into the back of my laptop, so when it ***** up I know it isnt the cable, you should get e(e)proms so when it does this you can reuse them. I use SST 27SF256 chips from www.batronix.com they are about $4 a pop, well worth it. I can't help you with your problem but every now and then mine throws a ---- fit and wont program anything. What editor are you using?
