getting a LC-1 wideband and a few questions
okay here is the situation, i have a turboed car with chipped ecu with uberdata. i want to start trying to tune. i seen that the LC-1 was pretty cheap and didn't have a display but i have a laptop that i can hook up to my ecu using the serial port. i am also getting the ostrich and i think it said it uses the USB port. so what would i have to do to get the wideband to datalog onto the laptop?

Re: getting a LC-1 wideband and a few questions
okay i read that you hook the wideband to the ecu O2 sensor wire and then switched power and ground. and when datalogging and runnign ostrich at the same time i have to have two UD open, one for tuning and one for datalogging.
anything else that i'm missing? or can anybody confirm this? |
Re: getting a LC-1 wideband and a few questions
couldnt you use ecucontrol or cuddle to datalog??? why not just datalog with UD and then go back and adjust what you need to

Re: getting a LC-1 wideband and a few questions
on the uber forum somebody said that you needed two open. but maybe i'm just confused or it was just a certain version. i don't know, i'll go on there and see what the newest/most stable version that supports ostrich.

Cough Buy Crome Cough
Sorry...I couldnt resist...I had a EXTREMELY difficult night this week with Uber, made my despise for it even greater. Just had to get that out of my system... |

Re: getting a LC-1 wideband and a few questions
Its really sad...I mean, all I hear now is that nasty rumor that even Blake is using Crome instead of his own program. Not that I can verify its truth but when you hear it from 10 or so people...
Uberdata survived strictly on the passion of a few moderators over there at their forums. It's creator is letting it die IMHO. :-\ |
Re: getting a LC-1 wideband and a few questions
hope it isn't so. that would be pretty sad. maybe he is using crome to get ideas for uberdata ;).
what is a good website to download crome and learn about it? isn't it basically the same thing as uber? does it support ostrich? EDIT: nevermind i just found the motherload of information on crome. looks pretty easy to use maybe i will try it out. do you know of any draw backs or downsides to using crome? |

With your LC-1 wired directly to the ECU, tuning is a breeze with Crome. |
Re: getting a LC-1 wideband and a few questions
Damn I hope Uber doesn't die out. :(
That's what I was going to use on my car, and have you tune Chris ;D (Hows everything>?) But I've also recently been wondering if I should ineed go with Crome. Although I feel more love for Uber. :P |
Re: getting a LC-1 wideband and a few questions
I hope it doesnt die either. I was making donations to Blake from kit sales for a while and never heard one word back (not that I really got butt hurt) but when I saw him stop updating his own software, I went and bought a Crome license...and I am glad I did. I still think there should be as many options as possible out there, to get people involved and learning though.
Uber and Crome were even for a while...Uber got the user base and attention while Crome stayed in the shadows on PGMFI. Right now, Crome is where its at for me. :D

Re: getting a LC-1 wideband and a few questions
been doing ALOT of reading on the pgmfi.org site about crome and downloaded it just to chekc it out. looks pretty good and seems to have a good amount of support from the programmers. but $149 for tuning features and autotune is a little high for a "non-profit" program. if you buy the tunerpro package do you have to pay that everytime there is an update? how long is your licence good for?
gotta figure out what to buy first, the WBo2 or pro license :'( |
Re: getting a LC-1 wideband and a few questions
Buy the Wideband first.
Datalog with ECUControl...Tune in RTP with Crome (You did recently buy an Ostrich right?). Free Crome lets you RTP...autotune is a very handy feature but not 100% necessary. Just makes it easier and faster really. |
Re: getting a LC-1 wideband and a few questions
So I wouldn't need Crome for you to street tune me right Chris?
I'd only have to buy it when I myself want to mess with the tune. Its going to be either or, but I think I'm also leaning toward Crome as it seems to be a little more tuner friendly. |

Re: getting a LC-1 wideband and a few questions
Sounds like a great idea...just remember, whoever's laptop gets the program...it stays there :)

Re: getting a LC-1 wideband and a few questions
Bump back to the top. I bought the same wideband today. I keep getting a blue screen of death when trying to run ecucontrol.
So do I need to hook the 0-1v analog output to the ECU or the 0-5v analog output? I'm assuming the 0-5 for the wideband.. *laugh.. ^-^ Andrew |
Re: getting a LC-1 wideband and a few questions
i swear... i feel like i'm the only one who can't get crome to work. Its ------- frustrating as ----. Now everytime i open up Crome to try and see if i might miraculously get it to work, i risk smashing my ecu and comp with a big ------- hammer.
and on top of that i broke ringlands earlier this week... i hate to say it but i really really feel like i should... i feel like i had to settle for a less than exceptional tune with some other rom editor, because the day was spent ------- dicking just to make everything half operational... ahhh i'll just keep it to myself. |
Re: getting a LC-1 wideband and a few questions
don't give up just yet.
i was haveing hell of a time trying to get my ostrich working with my laptop, it would work fine with my PC but when i tried to connect it to the laptop it wouldn't see ----. so i just kept messing with it and now it works great, only thing i need to do now is get a power inverter so i can plug it into the cig lighter since my battery lasts about 5 minutes. what problems are you haveing? |
Re: getting a LC-1 wideband and a few questions
well pretty much the same thing as you where experiencing. I could connect with the older version but then couldn't connect with 1.6.
|
Re: getting a LC-1 wideband and a few questions
you can try what i did, don't know if this was the problem but it works now ;D. i went into device manager and changed the ports to com2 then did the same with the ostrich. worth a shot. i was just messing around with it trying to get it to work and decided to swap com ports and it worked.
|
Re: getting a LC-1 wideband and a few questions
yeah i already tried that too, but i only tried one other port. Once i get back up and running i'll refer back to this thread.
thanks for the help though man... |
