Engine Management for an 04 tiburon?

It looks like my friend is going to have me install a turbo kit on his 04 tiburon gt v6 in january. I'm doing research now trying to decide what the best way to go for controling the fuel and the spark is. So far Ive seen some pretty crappy options. Some company called digg selling a glorified afc and a thing alot like a gm maf hack for dsm's called the mafterburner. If things like this are all their is I won't go ahead with this.

Both options are going to advance his timing. I used to think a BTM could solve that but JD said it won't help anything and I take him at his word. THe aem ems is to expensive I have a budget of only $1700.

I should make it fine I'm planning on using a blaast t3/t4 and an ebay intercooler and bov. I just need to figure out some management. Maybe megasquirt?

I dunno I just got the go ahead today. Any of you guys have experiance with a megasquirt system or know of some tuning software for the hyundai ecu. Ive looked through tiburon forums and it seems like that group is trying to figure it out but their development has just started this year and non of them seem half as smart as the Honda ecu guru's

mega squirt. I guess I'll heading to a mega squirt forum and figuring it out. If Urinemachine can rock it so can I. Although his car is much sexier then a plastic car named after a small harmless shark. more like a saltwater car fish. I need to go to sleep already.

Yeah thats the whole plan. Damn there is a lot of reading material on the mega squirt website. It's going to take me awhile to read carefully through it all. If it was for my car I'd just buy it and get started and figure it out. But this is for somebody else so I have to be pretty damn sure before I tell him to make purchase.

Ahhh I'm pissed> I was getting all comfortable with mega squirt reading through forum and faq's...I don't think mega squirt can control timing on a distributerless ignition.

the tiburon has coil packs.

I'm in the same boat, I'm working on a setup for an 05 tiburon, its got the 2.0L dohc I4, but after sifting through my options I think the best way to go is megasquirt, there's some australian company that alot of those hyundai guys are using but its pretty expensive unit. Keep this post updated with what you find for megasquirt, thanks.

I will. I was reading forums all night last night on megasquirt. It should work I just need to make a few phone calls tomorrow and see if someone help me figure out how to get a timing signal and fire going to the coil packs.

isnt mega squirt a stand alone deal, aka do away with the factory computer? what about the OBD ---- needed for inspection? am i mis understanding and its like the greddy emanage? i havent had much of a chance to read up on it but i think my next project will have megasquirt in it so i reckon i need to start reading...

Mega squirt is a full stand alone. It runs everything.

thats what i thought. im not sure how it is everywhere else but at the inspection stations doesnt the standard obd2 diagnostic plug have to be used for them to inspect the car? i dont know if there is much of a way around inspection with an obd2 car in NC idk how it is where you live?

hopefully you are going to post up some vids of the tiburon those sorry excuses for v6s only push out 170 hp it would be crazy to see what power comes out of that with a twin turbo setup

Yeah and if you actualy have any real experiance with a boosted v6 tiburon. wich I doubt you do. You probably tried to use a mafterburner like the rest of the usless hyundai crowd.

I spent a few days on differant hyundai forums and there was no usefull information at all to be found. *L* they had this thread were they sent a few ecu's to some guy that tunes mitsubishis and asked him if he would figure out how to chip their ecu's and then write a tuning program for them. *L* they bumped that thread for months waiting for the dude to show up with instructions and a program. ::)

Ive been doing my homework on megasquirt it will work with the hyundai. We'll see how it holds up with proper fuel and ignition maps. And the guy I'm doing the kit for has the money to get what I need so I don't see a problem with doing it.

The guy is banned I think it's time you pull his tip out of your mouth. Evey one of your posts in this thread sounds like a piss poor attempt to sound like hotrex. You can come up with your own style. I'll help you keep posting in this thread and I'll give you advice.

I found an old picture of your grandma.
