Default EGT Probe distance

I'm about to install my 4 probes into my equal length tubular turbo manifold. How close or far should I put the senders from the ports?

I know that if I have one 12" away then another 3" away my readings won't be consistent. Is there any recomended distance in intalling these things?

Thanks

Just to put everyone on the same playing field, it's recommended that EGT probes be 1/2 the diameter of the runner from the cylinder head. So if the primaries on your manifold are 1", then the probe should be 1/2" from the head on that runner.
