Re: ECU control question!

If you twist the Rx and Tx together can you type in hyperterminal?

Re: ECU control question!

Hyperterminal is a program in windows. You should be able to twist the rx and tx together and then plug in the usb. Open programs, accessories, communication, and hyperterminal. Click file, properties and then select the com your usb adpater is on. When chosen you should be able to type and it will come up on the screen.

Re: ECU control question!

If you have them twisted together and you can't type after choosing the correct COM port then you have a problem with the cable iteself or its not installed right.

Re: ECU control question!

when i have the cable plugged into the ecu both lights are on but as soon as i plug it in the laptop the lights go off could this be the usb cable?

Re: ECU control question!

Do i need to jump the rx and tx when its soldered into the ecu, or should i just be able to plug the cable into my usb and twist the rx and tx together without being attacthed to the ecu?

This is really confusing me and I really need to get it working, thanks for any help

Re: ECU control question!

jumping the rx and tx together allows you to echo in hyperterminal. The computer will transmit what you typr, then recieve it as if what your usb is hooked up to(nothing at the moment) sent it back. It's a test to see if your ---- is installed right on your comp before you try to use it on your ecu. If it doesn't work like that, no need to even try your ecu cause you already have a problem.

You don't want them jumped together when you're hooking it up to the ecu.

Re: ECU control question!

Thats what I thought just making sure, my ebay cable shows nothing in hyperterminal, i'll have to take out the radioshack one and try it.
