Default ECU chipping

i have a p08 MT and im wondering if i can put the empty footprint in without adding any other resistors or anything?

also, i read instructions on chipping jdm ecus and all i have to do is get the 74HC373 chip and jump j1. is this correct?

Uh, no. You'll need to add a resistor, a capacitor, the IC jump J1.. blah blah blah.

You see where it says, "2 Jumpers added here"?

That is actually a jumper (J1) and a resistor. Above that is another resistor, and above that is a capacitor.Up and to the left is the IC (74HC373), and the the very top two are two more capacitors.

..so, no, it's not just "dropping in the socket".

obd1 chipping sucks, I'm glad I don't have that much work to screw up when I chip my ecu.
