dohc zc and a pm6
Will a pm6 run a dohc zc? How do I deal with the vacuum advance distributor and boost?
|
Re: dohc zc and a pm6
Don't know if it helps any, but I ran a pr7(I believe that's the right code) ecu from a d16a1(usdm zc) on my d16a6 back in the day...I had read somewhere that I would see some slight gains from doing so...My buddy had recently totaled out his 89 model Teg RS, so I grabbed it from him....

Re: dohc zc and a pm6
i run a pg7 but i do not have vaccuum advance
|
Re: dohc zc and a pm6
If it is the blacktop zc then use the 88 89 integra pg7 ecu. If its browntop then use the 86 87 integra pg7 ecu. Pm6 shouldn't work unless its chipped because of the zcs exhaust cam sensor.

Re: dohc zc and a pm6
Since the exhaust cam sensor is in alignment, PM6 works fine albeit runs lean.
FYI, Cspec, PR7 is the NSX part number. Must have been one hell of a ZC. :P |
Re: dohc zc and a pm6
Its chipped. I am just not familiar with the engine or distributor. So I can still control ignition tables threw turboedit like any other d?

i'm running a dohc zc with a walbro & stock fuel pressure regulator b/c i'm a cheap ass. would i be better off running the pm6 since it leans it out? or should i stick with my pg7 |
Re: dohc zc and a pm6
Run whatever you can tune; this is a turbo site, and all turbo cars need custom tuning.

pm7 FTMFW |
Re: dohc zc and a pm6
Get chipped pm6/pr4
pg7's running zc's was because you had to spend 1000 on zdyne to tune anything back in the dinosaur days. Turboedit is free The era of what stock ecu is best is over |

^^^^^so true

Re: dohc zc and a pm6
I’m confused I looked into a zc a bit more. It only has a top dead center and cylinder position sensors on the exhaust cam. I saw no crank position sensor. I did see what looked like another cylinder position inside the distributor. Will this make a different the pm6 is chipped but I know a pm6 uses all 3 sensors. Will a normal D distributor fit on to the motor? I’m just worried about the vacuum advance thing I want to be in control of ignition timing especially in boost. I just want to ditch all the vac crap.
By the way its not a true zc its out of the first gen acura intera. Is the true zc different? |

The distributor has the CKP and the TDC sensors. |
Re: dohc zc and a pm6
As long as it has all 3 im good. Im green with zcs

If its electronic advanced, then you are good to go with the turboEdit goodness! |

Re: dohc zc and a pm6
you cant just swap the dizzys, since the wiring harnesses are different. You will have to make a conversion harness, making the appropriate changes, or use the complete wiring harness from an 88-89 integra (or some other obd0 car with electronic advance...i onyl deal with g1tegs tho O0).
With my 87teg, a buddy and I tried a few times to make the few wiring changes to use the elec adv dizzy, but we couldnt get it to work right. So, when I wrecked my 89teg, i ripped out the complete harness from it, and put in in my 87teg. That was the brute force, not-so-efficient way to handle things, but it worked. Later on, someone from g1teg did the conversion like a normal person would. Hers the link: http://www.g1teg.org/phpbb3/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=30524 the post 5th from the top has what changes need to be made. edit: oh yeah, about the head. you will need the cam caps from an electronic advace motor (namely a d16a1 from an 88-89 teg or a similiar ZC). Without this, you will not have a place to bolt the dizzy on the head. The bolt holes are different between the vac adn elec adv motors...so with the proper cam cap, you can at least use one dizzy bolt. I guess you can make a lil plate or something to get the other 2 bolts in place, but I've been fine just using the top. I'm not sure if this applies, but I can easily change to obd1 since I have the complete elec advance harness. All I need to do is make a few changes to the clips for the obd1 dizzy, re-pin those cips, and use an obd1 ecu. However, I'm not to sure what chagnes need to be made if you convert to elec advance with only doing the wire changes...it could be the same process... |
Re: dohc zc and a pm6
You can also use a SOHC D15B6 cam cap and run a SOHC dist.

Re: dohc zc and a pm6
Nice ZC. Thanks every one for clearing that up. Why dose ZC save a zc ZC ZC ZC ZC o-k saves as zc wtf.
|
Re: dohc zc and a pm6
ok, i have no idea what you just said.
|
Re: dohc zc and a pm6
every time I type o-k it will not post o-k it post zc?? If I dont use the dash it post zc
LOL how did you post o-k wtf?? |
Re: dohc zc and a pm6
ok, you are some form of retarded. got it.
