DIY-wide band kit *pics*
Got my kit in the mail today. I'll assemble it later and post another picture. (The VX o2 sensor I picked up used, didn't come with the kit).
Anyone else running this kit? It's pretty basic, you use a volt meter and a cross reference chart to display the air/fuel info. Stan http://users.eastlink.ca/~sly1/wideband/IM001877.JPG Stan |
Re:DIY-wide band kit *pics*
the VX o2 is a WB?
|
Re:DIY-wide band kit *pics*
for his sake I hope so.
|
Re:DIY-wide band kit *pics*
yup
|
Re:DIY-wide band kit *pics*
how much did the kit cost you excluding the vx o2 sensor?
|

Re:DIY-wide band kit *pics*
Ya do us a favour and tell us where you got it! I might like to pic one up if the price is right.
|
Re:DIY-wide band kit *pics*
you got a vx sensor and the kit for 24? how much was the sensor?

Re:DIY-wide band kit *pics*
I have the same kit, I bought 2 PCB's and one parts kit for $30 altogether. I'm trying to figure out a way to scale the voltage down and use an autometer A/F guage as a display, but i'm not sure if it's directly proportional (0-5v as opposed to 0-1v) any insight would be apreciated
|
Re:DIY-wide band kit *pics*
If you build a circuit to scale the voltage and it works, let me know, i'll test it on mine too.
Stan |
Re:DIY-wide band kit *pics*
we'll see, I need to figure out whether it is proportional or not, I guess I could do it and go to the dyno to calibrate it. but it seems like there would be a mathematical way to do it you know?
|
Re:DIY-wide band kit *pics*
I'm looking at the Vout table, it looks difficult to scale that between 0~1 volts. Are you sure it's 0~1 on a a/f gauge? It'd be a lot easier if the wide band started at like 2 volts and stopped at 3.

Re:DIY-wide band kit *pics*
Nice post stan.. I hope that 02 is still good, no offense.. but most people with hondas mess with their cars and run in limp mode and so on... and run to rich and that messes up the 02.. So if everything doesnt work smoothly.. question the 02 sensor. Good job on the do it yourself project though
|
Re:DIY-wide band kit *pics*
you could use an op-amp and a voltage reg to divide the voltage. Think: maphack

you still didnt tell us where you got the kit for $24... :P

Re:DIY-wide band kit *pics*
no shyt, right?!?!?!
cmon man.... quit bogating that wb-02 info ;D mike |

Re:DIY-wide band kit *pics*
This is just too perfect, my mani came of a 93 VX and I took the the O2 sensor figuring I might know some one down the road needing it, who knew It would be me Sweet!!!!

Re:DIY-wide band kit *pics*
I wonder how well that compares to the Techedge kit... I've built a number of those.

Re:DIY-wide band kit *pics*
the vx o2 sensor is a 5 wire wideband unit. im positive. my little brother has a 94 vx hatch
|
Re:DIY-wide band kit *pics*
Stan... what's the verdict on this?? got it running yet? and what are you planning to use for display?
|
Re:DIY-wide band kit *pics*
Not running yet, I have it half assembled but I'm on spring break right now and don't have it here. I'll be using a volt meter for a display first, and if we can put some circuit together then maybe i'll use a cheapy a/f gauge.

Re:DIY-wide band kit *pics*
I'm working on it, I'm working on it. I'd like to get my kit here before I start thinking about display options though. It should be here in a couple days. I heard of somebody doing it with the old australian kit (can't remember the name) and an A/F guage, I'll see what I can find.

Re:DIY-wide band kit *pics*
How long did it take you to get the kit, especially being in Canada? I filled the order form but still no contact from the seller.
|
Re:DIY-wide band kit *pics*
Or bambooseven, would you be willing to sell a board seeing as you have two, I'll pay 15 for it if you respond fast enough.

Re:DIY-wide band kit *pics*
Hey the FJO W.B.O2 drndot klit only only $300 and then like you have to pay a extra $50 for the gauge and Honda Tuning magazine highly recommends them and say they're one of the best bang for the buck. the Company is called FJO

This is the email he sent after I/We filled out the form. I'm sure if you paypal him with your addy and stuff it'll be cool...
"Guys, I am temporarily taking over distribution of diy-wb pcbs. I just took delivery of a new batch, and I'm ready to take payments and start shipping. pcbs are $5 each. Add $1 for shipping. Paypal to jhartwig@midsouth.rr.com or checks to Jurgen Hartwig 860 Rebel Rd Collierville, TN 38017 I also have the parts kits. Add $16 for each kit. Sensors from http://www.shonutperformance.com or http://www.oxygensensor.net The combination of pcb, parts, and sensor will give you 1 diy-wb. You'll also need wiring, soldering tools, a project box, etc. (Radio Shack items). If you have already procured a pcb, please ignore this email. Best regards, Jürgen" |

Thanks bambooseven!

Re:DIY-wide band kit *pics*
My buddy gave me his front O2 sensor off of his 2001 Impreza 2.5 RS. He kept telling me it was a wideband, and he wasn't using it, so I could have it if I wanted but I still didn't think he knew what he was talking about--I hadn't heard of Subarus using wideband o2 sensors. But today he gave it to me and here it is:
http://www.media-mizer.com/willpictures/o2.jpg http://www.media-mizer.com/willpictures/o22.jpg I have heard this might be the Bosch sensor. Does anyone have any idea if it is? Can it be used with diy-wb, or techedge, or any of the above?? |
Re:DIY-wide band kit *pics*
Looks like a Bosch LSU4.. "Wideband".

Re:DIY-wide band kit *pics*
how much would I be looking at paying for a bosch wb o2 from somewhere like autozone, checker/shucks/kragen, napa, etc?
|
Re:DIY-wide band kit *pics*
im pretty sure they dont stock them but ive never asked always assumed it
|
Re:DIY-wide band kit *pics*
Just follow the link on the techedge website; it's like $35-$40 from some online VW parts store.

Re:DIY-wide band kit *pics*
I was answering his question on where to find the Bosch sensor. Now, if he were asking if the bosch sensor would work with this kit, I would answer differently... ;D
