this is the first i've seen of this can you tell me more about it?

the problem with digi1 is always been you have to deal with chip tuning which is a pain in the *** for custom setups...this looks pretty sweet!

I see it the other way around, chip tuning > ECU flashing as well as a lot of standalones with pitiful transfer rates. If you have a Moates Ostrich it's a LOT easier than ECU flashing; you sacrifice 10-30 minutes to get the ECU out and the gear hooked up, but your ability to make instantaneous and seamless changes while the car is operating more than makes up for the setup time as well as the subjective tuning experience - instead of waiting you just simply tune. A vehicle you flash - you have to flash - can take a stupid amount of time whereas something equipped with an Ostrich is stupid easy and takes under a minute unless you have to fool with mechanical aspects like adjusting the TB... which you still have to do with a flash vehicle.

Best thing about (some of) the Digifant I ECUs is they have 25 pins (not all used) which is less than any EFI Honduh offering. Even the other variants have only 38 pins, which is less than any two plugs of any Honda ECU. It's nothing sphisticated, sure, but it gets the job done and is going to be dead simple to ---- with on a bench *UNLIKE* a Honda/etc that needs a full engine sim setup. I can use the 0-5v 1Khz calibration signal on my scope to simulate the dead nuts simple 4 tooth Hall pickup in the VW dist, and ---- around with the unit with impunity. I've been wanting to ---- around with an ECU on the elementary level for a while, but lacked all required skills/equipment, and this is an excellent project for me. Everything that's hard to do (figure out how to set an Ostrich v2.0 up for map trace so I can monitor what the MCU does) will prepare me for most complex ECUs while keeping everything associated with the Digi-I ECU itself practically hassle-free.

I started out as an ME, decided I would rather get my dick sucked by girls my own age than be around older girls who froke out when they found out how old I was, so I dropped out of school and did a looooooot of drugs from '91-95. Then I enrolled and finished autotech and then machining programs and worked in a shop until '98, started doing a lot of drugs (and my gf's sister, the gf's sister's gf, and everybody else's gf) until '00-01 at which time I just drank a lot and post-----d and chipped ECUs while taking networking and welding classes until I decided that ---- was totally retarded (the networking, I have a community college 1 yr diploma in basic welding, whoopty) and I started on EE stuff. Then dropped out three semesters in, started tuning cars maybe '02-03, became an alcoholic and swore off serious relationships. Enrolled in EE again, am most the way through, and have somehow gotten shacked up with a girl 13 years younger than me.

Try this one, since you probably have an account there. http://forums.generationdub.com/showthread.php?t=26511

I would, but I'm scared to sign up for another account on a VW forum, it's all I can do to resist abducting little boys as it is.
