Default Difference in PM6 ECU

I have a PM6 ECu but i dont know if its the 88 pm6 ecu or not. Is there a way to tell the difference by looking at the bar codes? I cant chip a 88 Si ECu right, using ghettodyne? Thanx for the replies. if not, anybody have a cheap pm6 ecu for cheap, thanx again

90-91 are easy to chip, 88-91 require 40 pin Amtel chips and speshul "a5h free code" which I am not entirely sure is supported by Ghettodyne yet (but will be shortly if it is not).

Burning 40 pin MCU chips (Intel 8051 derivatives) with most burners will require an adapter socket. Check any FAQs on your chip burner, or the chip burner manufacturer, for details on your setup.

As far as diagnosing the ECU era, you can look at the motherboard or you can look at the date stamped on the side of the case. There are plenty of chipping how-to's up on the net between ECUControl.com, pgmfi.org, and Jason's up on driftkids somewhere. You either have the external PROM (90-91) or you don't (88-89).

8/89 is technically 90 model year, since cars are released in the preceding fall of their "year."

Taking that into account, is it an 89?
