Default difference in 27C256 and 29C256 chips?

what is the difference in these two chips, I bought the willem of ebay and it came with a 27C256 chip and the chip kit I soldered in came with the 29C256 chips, I see the 27 is Eeprom and the 29 is "amtel flash memory" wtf is that ----? So I guess my question is, can I burn the same basemap's on either chip and use them in my ecu? I have 2 29C256 chips so I dont even plan on using the 27C256 but I was just wondering.

29C is reflashable, 27C is burn once and thats it (OTP) or it has a window in it so you can erase the chip with UVC light. Pay close attention to the last numbers on the 27C... It stands for speed in nanoseconds... You will just get limp mode or random limp mode if the speed is 15 or 150 and higher. Sometimes 150ns chips work fine . .. OEM chipped ECUs are 170ns... But actual speed vs advertised speed is different between brands.

-12 probably means 120ns. Give it a try at some point, it's worth 3 minutes of fiddling around.

My new Moates.net Flash&Burn is very nice. Easy to use, slick interface, pimpy in every way.

$90-something shipped from -------------, worth every penny.
