Default D16y7.........Automatic!

I just picked up a turbo kit...this turbo kit to be exact: https://www.homemadeturbo.com/forum/...72.0;topicseen

i was wondering what the best way to tune my car would be. i've searched and read through the forums on this topic and found very little about tuning an automatic d16y7. before you hit the reply button and tell me to convert to manual you should know that i just got an alarm installed w/ remote start and turbo timer functions that only work on auto cars, so im kinda ---- outta luck there. but back to the matter at hand, my friend says the safc is unreliable and doing the obd2 to chipped obd1 is better, i want to hear your opinion. wsid?

whoever told you your alarm will only work on a auto car is retarded. all you have to do is disconnect the clutch switch, if its not alarm with a wire for the ebrake so its compatible with manuals

i was in the same boat as you, before!

i had a t3 kit i made and i ran it on the afc hack for about 20k miles @ 10-14psi untill the ringlands took a ---- at 130mph on the highway.

i did the 5 speed conversion and obd2-1 conversion and it has to be about the best thing i have ever done to the car.

you have only a few options for fuel management on an obd2auto car.

1 fmu and 5-6 psi. you could go more but im not a fan of uber high fuel pressures.
2. afc hack and hope
3. greddy e-manage
4. convert to 5 speed and ond2-1 at the same time and have every option thats out there now.

back when i was looking around there was no conversion harness for the autoobd2 honda that actually worked.
there was 1 or 2 out there but when i started asking a few question about the wiring they would keep me on hold untill i hung up and they never responded to my few emails about it. they would only respond to my email with easy questions.
---- that.

now this was a while ago, so they might actualy have a harness that works or a writeup for someone who has actually done it. dont buy a normal conversion harness and think its going to work with the obd2 civic trans, it wont!

if you do decide to turbo the auto, dont expect it to be to fast, if you get 155-160whp your lucky! average will be around 140-150whp. depending on your auto trans condition and your driving style, it may last and it may not last. mine lasted, the motor blew before the trans did.

good luck.

I found something interesting: http://www.boomslang.us/auto.htm

Thats the harness I'm probably gonna buy for the Spoon p75 ecu, so it's like this...

Spoon p75 = $130
----------in' auto harness = $250!? (anyone know where I can find a cheaper one??)
Grand ------' Total = $380

or

10:1 fmu = $110
Grand Total = $110

which also brings up another noob question...whats a good ratio for the fmu?
nonvtec said he got 40mpg on 16:1, so what's 8:1 gonna do for me?
and if I go with the fmu should I expect something to blow up?
How much whp could I get outta using the fmu(s)?

if you look at the boomslang website you will also need to swap the obd1 auto trans as well!

its not worth it.

i was googling my auto harness and found some other guys in my same situation saying that the only way the harness works is with the obd1 trans too. however, at www.racingchips.com they have a harness that they claim to work with everything. does anybody know anything bout that?

anyways, now im thinking it'd be easier to get greddys emanage or just do the afc hack. but im definetly making a decision by friday.

g_shock: i would love to swap in a manual but school is coming up soon and my goal was to boost my civic, just for a little while until school starts.

if i did it all over again knowing what i do now, i would swap to a 5 speed first. it was the best thing i have ever done man..

if you really want to stay auto, just ger an fmu and run 5-6 maybe 7psi. more if you want but like i said super high fuel pressures might own you some day.
