Crome & Ostrich Q

Crome & Ostrich Q
Hey guys... hopefully someone can help me.
I like how crome runs on my car but the only hang up is i can't get my Ostrich to work. ive searched the Crome forum and the only thing i can find are a bunch of people with the same probs but no answers, either that or i just can't read.
So... i hook up the Ostrich, install moates drivers, all updated firmware
p30>import p28> boost tools/datalog and rtp/checksum
file/ settings/ set up proper port and baud speed
i try to connect and it just says, 'tried 3 times and failed' or something similar...
if anyone can help that would be great
ive tried the key cycling thing too but i'm not 100% sure if i'm doing it right

Re: Crome & Ostrich Q
does your computer recognizing the ostrich when it's plugged in? what com port do you have it set on? try installing moates 'tuner pro' software and see if that recognizes your ostrich. with all of my settings set correctly, i've never had a problem with my ostrich and crome.

Re: Crome & Ostrich Q
Use the TunerPro RT (as projectteg mentioned) software to test if the computer likes your ostrich.

Are you double checking your ports through the device manager? I'm assuming thats where you got your port info... but just want to make sure.

Re: Crome & Ostrich Q
i used the device manager to find the correct port so... as far as i am aware of the ports are matched up (4). I havn'ttried the tuner pro yet, i'll try that when i get home. The Key Cycling thing that i keep reading about, how crucial is that part of the set up?
thanks guys i'll report back

Re: Crome & Ostrich Q
i've never had to cycle the key. i just make sure the key is off completely when uploading a new map, then i just turn the key to make sure there is no cel, then start the car. i don't know why everyone says you have to cycle the key, i think that may pertain more to the rtp board than it does to the ostrich. what firmware version are you running (it shouldn't really matter with crome though actually as far as i know)? if crome won't even connect to the ostrich, it is a connectivity problem somewhere, it should say 'successfuly connected to ecu' when you test connection. try setting it to com port 3 in your device manager, and then changing it in crome to 3 also. you've made sure your baud rate and other settings in your device manager match the ones in crome also?

Re: Crome & Ostrich Q
ok, so i got tuner pro opened on my laptop and now how do i know if it dosn't like my ostrich/ computer combo?
yesterday, the baud speeds could have been mismatched with my laptop, but today i matched them both to 115200, and even tried matching them both to 9600. it still says '3 failed attempts' when i try to connect.

Re: Crome & Ostrich Q
if you have your ostrich set up right and the drivers installed properly, with tuner pro open, it should say 'ostrich connected, firmaware version...........' or something to that nature at the bottom of the tuner pro screen. if it says 'no hardware' or something like that, then that means your computer's not recognizing the ostrich is even hooked up.

Re: Crome & Ostrich Q
I have the exact same problems. There is only one version of crome that I could ever get to work. It just straight makes me angry. So no crome for me just yet.
Kevin, did you ever update the firmware on your ostrich?
