Default Converting older cars to EFI

Ok well I have a 79 El Camino SS. I am about to take the car on as a project. I was wondering how hard would it be to convert it over to EFI. Using like a Vette computer, motor, tranny, wiring harness, and rear end. The El Camino has a 350 in it now, so are the mounts on the LS engines the same?

if your going to swap in the motor and everything, then it wont be very hard, its just routeing and possably extending wires if you were to convert your current motor then it may be more of a challenge

but if you want a challenge try converting a 1972 datsun 510 with original engine to EFI, requires fab work, luck in the junkyard and patience

Extending wires is not a problem. It would be all coming out of the same car. More than likely a totaled Vette or Camaro. The Car would be gutted since I am going to redo the interior also. So that wouldn't be an issue. Would be converting the Guage cluster over to whatever car I get the other things from.

I still can't decide if I would be better off doing this or just pulling my motor and building it. For the price of the other setup I could have a fully built and boosted 350. I know nothing about carbed engines though. How difficult is it to tune a carbed engine, especially a boosted one?

They have systems that will completely replace your existing carb and IM to make your engine multi-port fuel injected.
Thanks Jago, that seems like a more cost effective solution.

Ok so next question. If I do just get the conversion manifold what injectors and computer do I use?

Oh I didn't see the complete system. The one you linked me to was for a 87-95. Mine is for a 79, but I found the manifold, just not the entire kit.

Megasquizzzirt is another cheap option with lots of options that you can add to it. Look in the Classifieds cause there's a sticky for the post.
