Default Code light in the ECU stays on

I know this is limp mode,
I just put a zif socket in.
When I put the stock chip in it gives me limp mode...maybe I damaged the chip when removing it?
I have some UV chips, but I think their bad...they won't erase fully...when put in the sun I've let them outside for a few days....2 of them erases but the first hex doesn't erase.
So i chipped one with skipping the first hex(32 bits) and I get the limp mode to...So I guess by skipping it I get the limp mode.
I hope I didn't damage anything in the ECU

Probably lifted a trace pulling the chip. I've subjected my "stock chips" to some CRAZY heat while desoldering it and it's never damaged them.

I would check your traces.

Yep, I've done that before, pulled up the top piece of copper and all went to hell from there Takes some practice to actually remove a chip successfully.

I have removed an MCU succesfully and put it back to.
I think I lifted a trace yeah....so how do I fix it?

Small jumper wire laying flat under the MCU from source to destination spot. Works pretty good. Just use a high gauge wire, perferrably without a casing (as it will let you let it flatter to the PCB).

Heh, I use a $5 soldering iron, $2 soldering braid, and $1.50 flux core... and mine runs the stock chips, burns, datalogs, and RTPs.. hrm.

..hrm, I wonder what means.
