Code 3 using TE

Just made a basemap for my mates twin cam D with turboedit and got a code 3 when I stomped on the gas, I thought that code 3 had been removed from the boosted roms, either it has been reinstated recently or could it be because the injectors exceeded maximum duty cycle in the boosted portion of the map?

It was never added back in...hell, they havent done any development in months.

But, are you sure its not an actual MAP sensor problem?

i dont think there is a problem with the map sensor, i will swap in a spare tomorrow.

It shouldnt even throw a 3 when it overboosts should it!

Heh, not quite true. We got maptrace/datalogging functioning last night ;) Autotune/gauges/etc are in the works.

Is the map setup for Dual Map? Make sure it is, otherwise its just an NA map and has no boost area. (from what I remember... all my TE maps are boosted at this point :p)

Yes it is a boost .bin

ok so i swapped the map sensor and its still throwing a code 3

Re: Code 3 using TE

What basemap are you using? What version of TE are you using? Did you use Xeno's basemapper? If all wiring is right... the chip should work 100%

Re: Code 3 using TE

NG60_18

TE 2.5.0.5 from pgmfi

didnt use xeno's basemapper, there is no need as of yet i was just wanting to test it out.

I'm going to download NG60 again, and use 2.5.2 to modify the map.

There is nothing wrong with the wiring as it was fine when it was NA and nothing else has changed

Re: Code 3 using TE

Make sure you download and install TE from www.turboedit.org (version 2.5.2)
Then goto http://forum.pgmfi.org/viewtopic.php?t=7520 and download the 2.5.5 exe file into your TE folder.
Running that and using the NG60 maps... you should have 0 issues.

Re: Code 3 using TE

Ok so i wiped everything and re installed it, still the same problem.

I should also say that this is on a romless ecu, whether that makes a difference i dont know

Want to explain this? I'm not sure what you mean by it.

Re: Code 3 using TE

yeah i got rid of turboedit and all its components from my hard drive and then reinstalled everything

The ecu I am using is a romless ecu that has been converted to accept an external eeprom, whether this would make a difference to anything I dont know

Re: Code 3 using TE

Hum, so its an 88-89 non-chippable format ecu? Is it possible that the modifications didn't work out perfectly?

Do you have a normally chippable 90-91 ecu you could use to test your bin file?

surfer 02-09-2006 05:12 AM

Re: Code 3 using TE

thing is, it works okay in vac just not in boost, that doesnt sound like it would be a problem within the modifications of the ecu.

I'm in the process of building another, this time using a PM7, dev board, ribbon cable and my proper soldering station, I'll post up if that goes to ---- as well.

Unfortunately the only chippable ecu I have available has a couple of damaged tracks so intermittently throws codes

Re: Code 3 using TE

man how ------- retarded am i, I forgot to link out the internal rom to make it read from the external.

Thanks for the help guys

Re: Code 3 using TE

Giggle... I was going to say... your issue sounded like it was map seeing boost... but with TE rom... that shouldn't be issue.

Glad you figured it out... you are a better man than I doing the external eprom route instead of just using the chippable ones.
