Default Chips Being reburned??

OK I got 3 of the C1 Atmel AT29C256 Chip from moates. I didn't know how many to get yet or if I need alot of them. If Im reading it correctly they are re-writtable? If so is infinite or no? I dont really mind buying more if I have to, seeing as they arent an arm and a leg but if they are reusable then hell ya

They are eraseable. I'm not sure if there's an advertised limit, but I don't think you have to worry about wearing one out. Get two, one to run while you're burning the other one.

How do you erase them? Or do you just burn over it? I need to do alot more research on these things. Only have a month until the install date

your burner will have an 'erase' button, just like it has a 'program' button

OK well I got everything today and am trying to install the everything. Im using these instructions:

http://www.moates.net/documentation....entation_id=16

Towards the bottom is says to make sure it works. It says :

'Once opened you can go over to the Tools tab, then go to the preference tab. Change the COM ports on both tabs to the one you have you usb drivers set on in the Device Manager.'

When I go to TurboPro and go to tool>preference I get three tabs. None of which have any options for COM ports.

Then later is says go

" Tool then to (AutoProm Prom I/O) "

to test a chip.

Under tools there is no AutoProm selection. I downloaded the both programs off the site they gave.

Also when I use Moates Flash and burn to check if it is a blank chip, it works and says "Chip is blank." So is it working or not? I want to try to test burning a file onto it but I am afriad its not all setup yet.
