Default Chipped ECU?

Very easy question for someone to answer for my lack there of.

I ran an afc hack before on my hatch civic but had some problems and went back to stock form until I was able to gather new items to fix my problems. I am going to go back again with my 14b setup again but want to just get my ecu chipped this time around instead of the afc hack. Question is once my ECU is chipped if i remover the prom does my ecu goes back to the factory settings?

CLIFF NOTES... If you remove the prom in a chipped ecu does it return back to the factory settings?
