check out my vafc settings after wideband install
I got my wideband in today and was able to fine tune my vafc settings. I have a 99 si with a vortech supercharger at 8 psi with 440 injectors.
Before the wideband, settings were as follows rpm low & high 1000 -40 1500 -40 2000 -39 2500 -39 3000 -38 3500 -38 4000 -37 4500 -37 and so on....you get the point and i was gettin a high of .53 bar on my vafc...stayin around .49 as a high most of the time. With the wideband here are my street tuned settings rpm low hi 1000 -47 -40 1500 -46 -41 2000 -43 -41 2500 -43 -41 3000 -43 -41 3500 -43 -40 4000 -42 -40 4500 -41 -40 5000 -39 -39 5500 -39 -39 6000 -39 -39 7000 -40 -40 8000 -40 -41 9000 -42 -42 now i am gettin a high of .55 bar. these settings yeild me about 14.5 out of boost and 12-12.5 in boost with it goin to about 10.5 at 7500rmp. I was very suprised at how much i was able to lean it out in the high rpm's. When i first got the wideband in and took it for a test drive, from 4000 on at full throtel, the wideband just said rich. as rich as it goes is 10.0:1. I feel like i picked up quite a bit of top end power, and im not really gettin traction at all in 2nd (shitty tires) Anyway, i just wanted to share |

Good job tuning. Goes to show you that wideband does help in tuning. I need to invest in a wideband but i'm broke :( |

Re:check out my vafc settings after wideband install
na, just have to add a little more fuel, shouldn't be a problem with your wb02 though (lucky bastard) :o

Re:check out my vafc settings after wideband install
|
Re:check out my vafc settings after wideband install
there are 3 more left at the 280 shipped price....pm me and ill hook you up with the guy who has them.
|
Re:check out my vafc settings after wideband install
We should all throw in $10 and get one to pass around. When we're all done tuning we could sell it and get our $10 back. haha (that would never work 8))
|
Re:check out my vafc settings after wideband install
If you wanted to do that, lets atleast get a WB w/ datalogging
|
Re:check out my vafc settings after wideband install

I just received a call from a David (dont know the screen name) who ordered the last one at $285. Congrats. I can offer a kick butt deal on the PLX units, albeit, the introductory price of $285 is over as of that last order. Still have more at $300 shipped which isn't bad. As for the vouchers, slammin would be one of them. :) Give us a call 877-367-2332 (toll free) and have your Visa/MC in hand. I ship all orders received 10am to 2pm will ship the same day. Orders after that times ship the following day. I have an overstock of SC50's and SC34's too. Give a ring if interested in one of those. Thanks for the props slammin, even if you're $5 off. :p Jayson Forced Air Performance, Inc. |
Re:check out my vafc settings after wideband install
thats crazy. I pay freakin like 240 just for the dyno and tuner. :'(
Oh.. btw can you take pictures of the unit? And how exactly do widebands work/install? Do you have to remove your oem o2 sensor? |
Re:check out my vafc settings after wideband install
also.. what gear did you tune in?
|

Oh.. btw can you take pictures of the unit? And how exactly do widebands work/install? Do you have to remove your oem o2 sensor? Hooking up the wideband is as simple as positive and negative. There are two additional wires if you have a stand alone or wish to use something like the Autometer A/F lightshow gauge. Pictures can be found at www.plxdevices.com, I'd rather not break the seal on the units Im selling, but, if I did, the appearance of the unit would be the same as those on the website above. If slammin has access to a camera, perhaps he'll take pictures of his unit. Give me a call if you have any further questions I might be able to answer. 877-367-2332 |

But, I'd have to say, after reading some of the things available and discussed about here (TurboEdit, Uberdata, etc.).. well. It doesnt get much cheaper than that. I may lose Hondata sales by saying it, but, hell, FREE is free. ;) |
Re:check out my vafc settings after wideband install
Uberdata owns you. ;)

Re:check out my vafc settings after wideband install
i can tune the car myselfself if i get the wideband? i blew my engine 3 weeks ago. damn fmu. i was running 9 psi with fmu and rc 370cc injectors and a vafc (setting must been wrong). i'm gonna put the turbo back in next week. i plan to take the car to the shop to let them tune it. they want $180 an hour. i mean if i can get the wideband for $300 and tune it myself then mighte as well, spend a little more money and get to have a wideband too. thanx

Ya... not to be a dick, but I seem to remember another post where you were knocking my V-AFC formula because it didn't hit dead on your WB settings.. weeeeeeell... there was a reason for that. :-\

Re:check out my vafc settings after wideband install
I'm saying your settings were wrong. I don't know if the WB was wrong, or you installed the ground incorrectly. The PLX is ground sensitive. Power needs to be installed as close to the ECU as possible. If you hooked it all up in your Engine Bay, and ran the display into your car.. Ya, your settings would be WAY off.
The reason I say your settings were wrong is because you leaned your car out futher than your stock ignition maps are. Essentially running boost on injectors SMALLER than 240cc. 46% flow rate difference (if you were using 450s) and you leaned PASSED that.. flowing less than 240cc injectors. That is why your engine blew up. |

Re:check out my vafc settings after wideband install
im sure timing could have hurt it more, but running the injectors that far negative definitely wasnt good

Re:check out my vafc settings after wideband install
that should have been enough retard for 8 psi

Your lack of fuel caused your ringlands to explode. I'm almost 100% sure. Pull the head off and have a look. (..oh, and sell me the head, you're probably buying a whole new motor. ;) ) |
