why does my carbed engine have an oxygen sensor?

 

i dont know about honda's but my dad's piece of ---- truck with a 2bl on a 289 v8 had an o2 sensor and the carb would lean out the mix. Kinda like closed loop mode on today's ecu's but more ugly and less sophisticated
