Default blue wire mod. question

OK I have a stuart warner a/f ratio gauge. I know it's not accurate and it's being taken out shortly for EGT gauges but my shop is a stuart warner supplier so I got it for free but anyway I hooked up the blue wire to my O2 sensor wire and my A/f gauge goes nuts. Is this ok ? I don't care what my a/f gauge says cause I know they're crap I just want to make sure doing this won't mess anything up. Thanks... My car is a 91' Civic HB with a B16 PR3 ECU on nitrous. Thanks for help guys
