car running funny on boost chip.
Hey guys I got a basemap boost chip from hyperducktuning to use. He said it was set up for stock 240cc injectors. Yesterday when I tried starting my car using the boost chip it wouldn't idle..I'd have to keep pressing on the gas to keep the car running and there was also tons of smoke pouring out of my exhaust. Then I threw in my stock p28 chip to see if it would start with that and it started up and idled perfectly and the exhaust wasn't dumping out tons of smoke anymore. Do you think that this is probably from the boost chip not really being setup for 240cc injectors...like maybe it was set up for 450cc injectors instead?
A "Boost Chip"?
..first off, you can't run boost on 240cc injectors. They're at 85-90% duty cycle running NA. There is no way to handle boost.
If it was tuned for 450cc injectors, you would be running MAD lean due to the pulse durations being shorter than that of a 240cc injector (provided it was tuned SOMEWHAT correctly).
..as for why smoke was pouring... I have no idea.

well it was white smoke so maybe thats from it being leaned out. Also what i meant by a boost chip is it is just a basemap for running boost. Basically like a basemap in uberdata to run before you get the car tuned.
read what parker said. 240cc injectors might be useful for boosting a 1.3L destroked chicken but not a 1.6-2L B or D series motor. You have to get bigger injectors to have room for more fuel.
I dont see how anyone could get a chip for a setup and have it work properly. The one thing I have learned is that every car and setup react differently. Doesn't seem like it will run right anyway. How can you tune the set up? How did this company know your variables? Do you have to send it back everytime you have to adjust fuel or ignition curve?
