Cant hit 16deg Base Timing
Just got my car to start... its sitting there idling at ~500rpm.. went to set timing before I get the idle up, or should I get the idle up first??
Neptune rtp, 1000cc inj, b18c, fluidampner pulley, aftermarket cam gears.
the timing light is showing that im ~6 deg off I believe, maybe 4-5.. I've checked over and over that mechanically the timing is set correctly, I turn the dizzy all the way over and it starts to idle smoother and smoother and then it hits the end of the range of adjustment.
Should I file out the adjustment slots on the dizzy or set the base timing at 10deg in neptune and add 6deg to all of the maps?
or any other suggestions?

Re: Cant hit 16deg Base Timing
I'm 99% sure it is... i went over it 10 times before I put the valve cover on... If I turn the crank around and both of the cam gears are lined straight up... and the crank is pointing at its marker everything is right correct?

Re: Cant hit 16deg Base Timing
Set base timing to 16 deg in Neptune, so regardless of RPM it's at 16.
If you still can't get it to the 16 deg mark on the crank pulley, either you've got the wrong distributor or your mechanical timing is off.

Re: Cant hit 16deg Base Timing
This morning I checked the mechanical timing, it looked like it was off a tooth.
I put the belt on and everything looks perfect, turned the car on, ran great... but the distributer is advanced all the way and it just makes it to the "0" on the fluidampner... do you line up with the zero or with the 16 mark on a fluidampner..?
