Default Can you use a fmu with maf??

I made a turbo kit for my civic and my friend was impressed with it so he wants me to turbo his Gs430. The setup will look like this with more engine bay room because its a GS
http://www.lextreme.com/sc430tt.html He only wants to boost about 5psi so I figured a 12.1 fmu will only add 60psi of fuel pressure. That wouldn't stress the injectors too much. What i'm asking is that his car is a maf setup so wouldn't he hit some kind of fuel cut or something like that, because of the added airflow. I recommended a greddy emanage to tweak the maf readings but that means i'll have to tune it. I want to avoid tuning as much as possible because I can't afford to get him another motor. Please if anyone has experience with turboing a maf sensored car let me know what you did. If they only made a uberdata for that car.

Yes, you can use an FMU with MAF...

just an add on note here.

FMU's can only be used on return line fuel systems. Not dead end systems like a lot of newer cars have

what I can't figure out is that what will the ecu think when the maf reads all this air coming into the engine. Will the engine start maxing out the injectors to compensate? I have a dsm, when it was stock and I turned up the boost the airflow frequency on the maf went beyond the safe range and I hit fuel cut. I'm just not sure how the ecu will react. I guess we'll try and find out. Wish I can find out on a cheaper car though.

If the car wasnt boosted from the factory, its fuel maps will only be able to spit enough fuel for vacuum conditions. An FMU adds fuel based on boost only.

The MAF will beable to meter some boost, but not much before it hit's the 5v (4.89v or what ever). The CEL could come on when the MAF high limit is reached. You could just let the MAF maxout, and depend on the FMU to continue to up the fuel pressure once the MAF & Injectors are maxed out. Or you could replace the MAF with one that can meter more air flow, and replace the injectors and find a way to chip it.

The MAF and computer really dont care what the intake manifold vaccume is, because it can see the the volume of air the motor is consuming.
