can i run 5psi on a stock del sol motor with 440cc injectors
 

i have a d15 del sol motor and a volkswagen turbo, i have the boost guage, the blow off valve and all the lines and charge piping, can i safely run 5psi of boost with just 440cc injectors from a tsi? i also have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, may rise with boost may not, (modeled after holley fpr) or do i need to get a 12:1 fmu? let me know if you have any info

yes they will work. You will need something like an afc or a chipped ecu if you want to run those larger injectors. You need to scale them back so they run normal out of boost and not insanely rich.

Well you can run the larger injetors with the adjustable regulator. The roblem with not using a rising rate one is that it will not adjust for boost. I think that the one you have is just for adjusting the raw pressure.

What are your goals for the Car ?
Is 5 psi the maximum you want to run ?

If you use a 12-1 FMU then you need to use your stock injecters.

If you want to use the 440s, then you need an VAFC or a chipped ECU to control them.

The stock motor should be able to handle up to 10lbs with a good tune. I would suggest the 440s and Uberdata chipped ECU

I have the D16Z6 in my SOL and im going to be a ----- and go for a VAFC.. i will also run 450 dsm"s and a small 14b turbo..Im a ----- because uberdata is WAY to ------- confusing..i mean its pretty much CHEAPER and BETTER than the VAFC but its just way to crazy.. to be tunning every single lil detail at every rpm. Not to many people are there to offer lots of advise and COMMFORT...lol..No matter what forums i read. i cant find out more than the last forum..i would pretty much have to load the latest version 1.77 or whatever and test it and play around with it before i got Socketed..:( im a SLOW learner!

ANYWAYS...the VAFC is fairly easy TRUE.. take a few hours of driving around and tuning it..?? I HOPE ! lol...im only going for 6 pounds but then Sometimes run a 9 pounder! lol at the track or something.. get to that what ...180 hp ? lol i took a ride in a friends LS turbo hatch...----.. it inspired me LOTS! but ls vs. SOHC Vtec... LS will always be better..he was only running 8 pounds..and you feel that ---- in your chest when its pulling in EVERY!!!!! gear !.. ANYWAYS..anyone have EXPERIENCE with VAFC and the tuning it ?

you are still however going to need a Wideband to accurately tune in the VAFC

Ok. i have heard about wide band tuning...and read the fuel managment forums......but still doesnt explain WIDEBAND tuning 100% .....Someone explain in " DUMBASS" terms? THANKS :P

No one can explain it to you fully in one post. You are going to have to do a lot of reading on this matter.

my friend just put a afc in his Talon Tsi,,,and he said it took a while but after driving for a few hours..he said it runs pretty good.. He said 3rd gear is usually the best gear to TEST then tune in..he said he would get on it through the gear then adjust it a little,, and change it every time...Any gear better to test it in.. or just through them all?

Was he using a wideband for adjustments or pocket logger or whatever that junk is that shows fuel trims and stuff. AFC tuning without a wideband isn't a good idea.

Hey man u should really check into uberdata. It's not too confusing really. I mean, I havn't setup my own basemap yet, but I bought an ecu from projekteg, 150.00, with a good basemap. Car runs perfectly with 10psi. I'm running a JDM D15B, 14B turbo, 450cc injectors, etc.. Basically same setup as you I'd guess. The VAFC will be harder to use, I've seen a couple guys (including myself) blow a SOHC motor with vafc. it's a pain to use it, more than using uberdata. you should contact projekteg, and he can tell you too. I have seen both being used tho, the vafc was used for "fine tuning" i guess. But with the new ecu, car runs so much better than with vafc! Check into it before you commit to it. oh, and make sure you get the resistor box or inline resistors for the 450's.
