Re:best place to install EGT probe
i could eb wrong, but i beleave i read that they should be as close to the O2 sensor as they can be.

Re:best place to install EGT probe
3rd runner on the manifold.

Re:best place to install EGT probe
I'll second the 3rd runner.
If you get a dual EGT gauge, you can always stick a second one in the collector right before the turbo to compare hottest and average EGT. If you stick it after the turbo in the downpipe, you read a max of around 800 degrees F when in boost... pressure-enthalpy conversion leeches a lot of the heat/energy out of the exhaust gas. |
Re:best place to install EGT probe
3rd runner is best.
Mine is after the turbo on the downpipe and it reads allot colder than one on the runner. I am usually at about 900 cruising. I have hit 1300 before. :o __________________ Best Car Insurance | Auto Protection Today | FREE Trade-In Quote |
Re:best place to install EGT probe
mine was intall in the o2 sensor hole on the std manifold. And i read 1450,1500
F at 60mph. So it hot. Do you think it will be better on the 3 runner?? |
Re:best place to install EGT probe
i put mines on the #1 cylinder runner is this not good?
|
Re:best place to install EGT probe
On Honda motors it is better to have them on the #3 cylinder. The #3 cylinder has been known to be the first one to go out because of high heat levels. This would make the #3 the ideal position to place the probe since you could see what the hottest part of the motor is. The #1 runner would be fine, but it is not the best spot. I don't think it would be anything to worry about.

Re:best place to install EGT probe
ok some person told me to put the EGT after the turbo when we are FI and in the manifold when we are N/A.

Re:best place to install EGT probe
you can but your temps will be cooler, wouldn't you rather know your hottest temp? i think that is safer, you can also put it 1 inch from your muffler if you want ::)
