Default aww ---- that burns.....socketed my ECU...

i have pulled engines and not yelled "AHH ----" as may times as i just did soldering that damn thing, but i finished with only one 'serious' burn (one that will leave a mark) so that brings up a question: you guys where gloves or something when doing this? or am i just a newbie?

anyway i took some pics with my shitty *** camera:

i think i will start my new carrer as a photographer soon

so then i burn a program to a chip.....oh wait i dont have a burner think i am going to get a Transtronics Romulator with real-time emulator....

How many times have you soldered before? I took a class on soldering and I still don't think I'd trust myself to socket an ecu.

To answer your question, I usually don't wear gloves but that is a tight space to maneuver. I think gloves would get in the way. Its a toss-up. I never have worn gloves while soldering.

I've got scars from soldering, that's how good I am. I think my soldering gun is 110 watts or something obscene like that, I think I'll get a cheap radio shack soldering iron for working on small stuff.

How much is the romulator? did you chip your eg ecu or are you just practicing?

umm.. i dont wear gloves or anything, but then again ive been soldering for maaany years. I actually use a butane soldering iron most of the time!!! I don't know why.. it gets ready in less than a minute and sounds cool.. or summin

I have nice weller super-duper controlled soldering station and a decent Hakko desoldering station.

Solder naked, it's a mind thing, when it's REALLY on the line, you won't make any mistakes. But ----, maybe I'm just a rock-star, I solder behind my bacd, and with my teeth and ----.

what is some ---- is that radio shack sells a single 35watt soldering iron for $8.69, and for $8.99 you get the iron with a bunch of other crap like a sponge for cleaning it, and a heat sink and a stand, and a few other things. as soon as I have some time I'll have to get that 30 cent extra kit and make me one of these fancy things: http://www.carolinahondas.com/forums...lerpark+budget
