The "U" or mark on the end of the chip goes on the side closest to the parallel port. Since it is setup for a 32 pin chip, when you use a 28 pin chip, the chip goes in so the unused 4 slots are also closest to the parallel port. Here is a crude ASCII art dipiction:

| U -------> Parallel port

When you go to select the sort of memory you're using, Prog-Studio will flash a color picture of how to configure your jumper switches. It's cake.

well i got my eepromer working and reading my chip that mr_dr_pep made me.. i saved it then opened it in ghettodyne and it worked perfectly...

i selected my eepromer version 3.3 then for the chip i selected 29c256.. is this correct? someone told me to use m28c256.

which do i use?

also.. if i make some changes in ghettodyne i save the file.. then in progstudio i open it.. and write to my chip and thats it? will it just work or is there some check sum stuff i need to do?
