All the gear...

I've got all the Gear, and nothing to Run it with...
I've got my Atmel Chips, PM6 Ecu, Rom burner, Zif Socket, Datalogging adapter, and laptop...Now i just need something to tie it all together....Does anyone out there have a Rom editor, i'm assuming ghettodyne is still gonna be a while and i'm dying for boost!!! Hopefully somebody has something that can put this gear to work for me!

Re:All the gear...

Georgehack boost code for PM6, you'll need a PGMFI Forum account (free registration) in order to access this file most likely. It should be run with 450-550cc injectors, ideally.

Run this file IN NATURALLY ASPIRATED FORM ONLY, and tell me how it works? I think it's a touch lean, but it should Idle and cruise fine. It's equivalent to a -50% fuel (or AFC) cut, and the ignition maps are set up for 1.0 retard per psi at --40% cut... should be a touch aggressive in the NA region due to the extra -10% cut. Nothing a stock engine would have a problem with.

It (the Georgehack.bin) displaces the fuel and ignition maps 22 places in Ghettodyne 1.03 (newer Ghettodyne doesn't open things not called "Ghettotune"), which makes it pretty hard to use with Ghettodyne... for a newbie.

I'll walk you through, and check your work, and give you all the help and explainations in the world, but you're doing this yourself. 8)

Why don't you open my copy of 91 Si MAPhack.bin in Ghettodyne 1.03.

Off the top of my head, you need to add 20% more fuel to a -50% cut fuel map to get it to work like a -40% cut map. Every fuel pulsewidth figure should be multiplied by 1.2 to accomplish this. I don't think you'll want to change the pulsewidth in the idle area. The last five columns on the right are your "boost" maps... go ahead and make those figures ~1.35 time what they currently are.

Email or post your result or better yet some screenshots so everyone can see what's going on... as soon as you have them, and they look good, I'll show you how to cut and paste that fuel map into the Georgehack file.

I can't get ghettodyne V1.03 to work...
It comes up with
" component 'comdlg32.ocx' or one of it's dependencies not currently registered: a file is missing or invalid.

Weird, i'm running XP...
Anyways, got that geared up...So ur saying i should burn the Georgehack bin, install the 450's before i boost it and make sure it runs fine???

Re:All the gear...

Ok, i've got a B18a, if i install the 450's while im still N/A, what changes do you think i should make?? Should timing be the same?? Just maybe a little more fuel?

You are B18A, grasshopper? Please to be going here: http://pgmfi.crx-forum.org/phorum/do...d_baseline.bin

This post was bought to you in part by www.engrish.com.

Re:All the gear...

Mint, now is that just a base map, or already tuned for 450's?? Also, this may be a stupid question, but you said to multiply the previous fuel tables by 1.4??? Wouldn't it be by .6?? As the adjustment should be -40?? If we put it up 40% wouldn't it run super rich???

Joseph, this file is only for timing, correct? You haven't touched the fuel pulse in that file have you?

Re:All the gear...

Smokey: You are thinking of cutting injector pulsewidth to tune the map for 450cc injectors on a stock NA car or regular standalone setup. In those cases, 240cc/450cc = .53, which you multiply by your 240cc (stock) fuel pulsewidth for the new 450cc injectors to work.

I'm glad you know that, most people don't, but that does not apply in this situation! The AFC hack (or George's code based equivalent) makes the ECU assume the incoming air is at a lower density so it automatically looks lower down on the fuel maps where the pulsewidth is smaller. Fuel is strangely linear in nature (with a few quirks), so you effectively do the injector calibration by fiddling the MAP input.

The ignition maps are set up for -40% AFC hack. I used the AFC to add fuel in boost, but they are the XS engineering fuel maps which are a hair richer than stock ones so it's safer than the regular -40% AFC hack baseline on an LS.

The Georgehack file creates a -50% AFC cut on any maps you insert, compared to stock code. You have to add that 10% back in to get the fuel maps at a baseline -40%. To do that, you have to increase the fuel maps 20%, or multiply the injector pulsewidth by 1.2

Follow my math:

100% of the fuel, with a -40% cut applied = 60%

100% of fuel with a -50% cut = 50%

How much do you have to add to the 50% map to get it back up to 60%? X * 50 = 60, solving for X, X = 60/50 = 1.2

The last five columns in Ghettodyne are your boost maps with the AFC or Georgehack. Adding a little more fuel to those columns is a good idea, so instead of multiplying those values by 1.2 I want you to multiply them by 1.35, which should be a nice safe figure you can tune from.

The idle pulsewidth still needs to be smoothed over... and you can't go below 1.08 ms fuel pulse on a Honda ECU.

This is a lot to choke down at once, and I just spent another all nighter wrenching so my mind is toast and my explainations aren't the best.

DR_MR_PEP: Correct. The maps would work well with an AFC cut of -40% and 450cc injectors on a naturally aspirated D16A6. Turbo cars like to run a bit richer than ~13.x:1 AF under WOT, which is why people start adding fuel off idle with the AFC hack.

As you've probably guessed by now, -50% takes a good bit more fuel than is required out.

Hey, you coming to the Asheville Meet?
