AFC vs V-AFC?

Sorry if this is a stupid n00b question but-
V-AFC means Vtec AFC right? Will it cause problems to run a VAFC on a non-vtec motor? Found an inexpensive VAFC but I want to make sure it'll work with a non vtec Dseries.

Thanks!

i dont see why there would be a problem if you just didnt hook up the vtec wiring. but i suggest you do some looking around into some tuning options. lets us know your engine ecu and we can get you on a better track then a AFC Hack.

what do you mean by inexpensive they both suck balls and dont do anything but blow motors you can get a chipped ecu for ~$100

Why he is correct. Afc work by changing map signal voltage. This changes fuel but it also changes ignition. So you get fuel correct but ignition is always wrong. This has been covered before. The only reason vafc still sell is because people like you. Uneducated Honda enthusiast.

haha ok I thought it was the least expensive route but apparently I was wrong :D I am planning on getting a D16A6 and I have the ecu for that engine (PM6 IIRC). I have a 13g turbo from a 1st gen talon, as well as the IC and injectors from the same. I have been reading up on turbos for some time now but there's just so much to learn!
Thanks for your help guys!

man its not your lack of knowledge that offends any one its the lack of searching there are stickies talking about everything you need to know about tuning it talks about the ecus that can be chipped and talks about the afc hacks and fmu's. plus niether of us were referring to you i was referring to racingbrett

Ef8sirjunkie 04-26-2009 03:31 PM

look into Turboedit and ecu control i used that on my obd-0 pr4 before switching to obd1 Xenocron Tuning: Fuel Management and DIY Tuning Resource Center for Honda and Acura Performance - Hondata, eCtune, Neptune, Crome, TurboEdit, Uberdata and Welcome to www.moates.net! : Moates.Net will have the supplies you need and this is really a good engine managment forum i like it alot better then pgmfi.org because you get faster response's by really great tuner's. i have post on pgmfi from years ago that arte still unansweard but this forum has answered all those. Good luck.

DisabledDan 04-26-2009 04:52 PM

Hey thanks ef8! I'm just trying to get off to a good start on this thing and I know there's a lot of options for tuning. And I have been reading a lot I love how the FAQ here on HMT answers more questions than, well just about anything I have read!
Thanks again!!

racingbrett 04-26-2009 05:26 PM

So just chip your pm6 20$ pgmfi.org is your new best friend. Search pgmfi wiki.

U are fine every one once used a vafc but we all learned quick it is a waste of money.

I to used one lol.

DisabledDan 04-27-2009 01:00 PM

^Thanks fuse! Basically I ccame to a standstill because the whole "engine management" thing seems to be the most expensive ----, and the thing I know least about :D I'll check out pgmfi and get my learn on ;)

Thanks again!

you could always pay a local to street tune your car for a decent price.

DisabledDan 04-28-2009 10:00 AM

Well, I'm on a local forum as well and there doesn't appear to be any local tuners... :P
But I'm still searching, and reading up. Gotta pop open my ECU one of these days :D

es.roadster 05-11-2009 11:27 PM

vafc or afc can be really useful if tuned correctly.
the most whp you could possibly gain is as little as 2 to 40ISH.
