89 civic keeps blowing distributors
This car has gone through 4 distributors in about 150 miles. I just put my 5th one in yesterday. It starts right up and drives great unless you go driving for 30 minutes or longer and it just craps out on the road and won't start again until you put a new distributor in it. Now these are HO'Reilly's distributors, the lifetime ones. I have talked to some aftermarket garages and they say sometimes you go through 2-3 of them before you find a good one. I checked voltage out of the alternator at idle speeds and higher RPMS and it's between 14-14.5, but haven't checked while driving. The vehicle also has new plugs, wires, cap, rotor. I have also replaced the ECU with another known good one just for ***** and giggles but did not help. Any ideas? :1 Its a 1989 Civic Dx 1.5 N/A monster. It all stock.

Go buy a used honda one. CDM fails again. I have seen so many of these things fail its sad that people buy them over a used honda oem unit. Not to mention what fails is usually ignitors and coils which can be replaced with get this HONDA OEM JDM TIIITE Parts

you have a bad ground somewhere, thats probably what killed your first one, and that is what is killing the new ones. add extra grounds. there is a 95% chance that will solve your problem. run a wire from one of the distributor bolts to the frame somewhere. probably a good idea to replace the one on the valve cover as well.
