*Flame Suit On* FMU Q

Looking at a OBX 10:1 FMU only looking to boost 6psi for now until I save up for a LS swap.
10:1 good enough for non intercooled setup?

stock injectors
255lph in tank pump

I will agree with that. Obx stuff is hit ormiss and an fmu that fails=good bye rings. Be careful with your hose clamps has well with fmu's double up on them

Re: *Flame Suit On* FMU Q

I dunno. I'm thinking low boost until I can save up for a stronger motor. I was think just plain LS swap and boost it.
My D16Z6 has 175k on it. Uses a little oil. I was thinking low boost @ 5psi for now. The motor itself has no odd noises, idles very very smoothly. I'm just torn right now. I honestly don't know how much power I could push with this thing.
Should I say ---- it and go the 450s route and tune it and push about 8-10psi. What do you guys think?

Re: *Flame Suit On* FMU Q

either way you should go with a chipped ecu. In reality you need to compression test your motor and with that kind of mileage a fresh headgasket will be a killer idea.

yea might as well put a new water pump on too while I'm in there.

Ehh, I wouldn't wanna boost a car that uses oil. If it's just a leak get it fixed and rape it, other then that, just wait. Better yet, get a HX35 with an open waste gate and then rape. Waiting for ripper vids :6

Re: *Flame Suit On* FMU Q

go with an ecu and 450's you can reuse them on your next setup ;D save yourself some cash later instead of buyint ath fmu now... selling it buying the ecu and 450's then all that you have to do is swap out your chip..

dont FMUs cost as much as a chipped ecu?

fmu's run from 80-200 bucks

so in reality when you get all your ecu stuff/injectors etc you spend a little more but I mean whats a couple bucks for doing it right

Re: *Flame Suit On* FMU Q

and its a lot nice because you can actually tune it, and you wont be overloading your injectors with a shitty spray pattern and running a bad air fuel mixture

Well a friend of mine has a good deal for me. Its a Vortech FMU 12:1 and a missing link and a boost controller for $80
Would I really need a 255lph fuel pump for this setup?

Cliff Notes:
5psi
FMU
missing link <---- do I even need this ----?
stock injectors
stock fuel pump <--- or NO?

fmu's require upgraded pumps if not they dont do anything. Mucho pressure needs macho pump.

Re: *Flame Suit On* FMU Q NSFW

you'll need the missing link if you don't want the check engine light coming on.

Screw the LS. I think you should just do a vitara/TT rod setup with some head studs and a new head gasket. Then you'll be good to go.

Re: *Flame Suit On* FMU Q NSFW

Yeah I've got the missing link. I picked it and a Vortech FMU and a MBC up from buddy for $80
So I think I'll just boost this motor for about 5-6psi until I can build another Z6 motor.
