Just got my moates ostrich today and got it working after DLing UDv1.7ost2 or whatever and updating firmware ... tried the dance with both UDv1.7ost2 and 1.7 open to try and upload/emulate and datalog at the same time. Couldn't get datalogging to work but I think the cable is my problem ...

Interested to know what program everyone is using their ostrich with UD/CROME/CROMEPro/etc ?

Right, Ostrich has nadda to do with datalogging but it does have everything to do with real time programming. I use Crome Pro and a serial cable to serial port. No probs here. Datalogging issues are on the ECU/software side not the Ostrich. Think of the Ostrich as a chip that doesnt need to be replaced, removed and reburned every re-tune.

 

if you want to datalog with crome , remember to have cutted J12 ...

 

right ... but like with UD you can't do both in the same program I guess so you have to have 2 programs open .... 1 to emulate and 1 to datalog .... seems pretty inconvenient , so I figured most of you must be using Crome ... but I didn't think you could datalog with crome , so I was wondering if everybody has pretty much given up on freeware and bought Crome Pro? or are people actually using the 2 UD programs to tune regularly?

my ostrich worked great with Crome 1.1.8, but with 1.2 im having the worst problems trying to get it to connect. its fighting me like hell...

Exactly. Uberdata the ostrich version datalogs and emulates perfectly. I use it all the time. The only reason people say it doesn't work is they don't know how to use it.
