$5 dollar programmer!!!

I was wondering if you guys had heard about this. Basically you use a 3c905b 3com nic card and then boot your computer with a linux boot floppy and use the NIC card to burn a standard EEPROM.

Check it out.

Sounds like I'd rather spend $50 on a Willem than go through that.

Better yet, spend $100 on a Moates Burn1 and have no hassles.

I got a couple of these cards. I am gonna give it a try in a week or so as soon as I get some chips.

It's not worth the hassle. For $50, just get the Willem. There is a thread on pgmfi about it as well. If you have one of the cards laying around and a spare computer to test on, go for it, but once you start burning a lot of chips, you'll want something better.

I'd get a Willem if I needed a cheap MCU development platform that could handle more than the somewhat limited selection of chips the Burn1 handles... but, that being said, I'm very very very happy with my Moates burner.
